My eldest daughter came and asked me if she could try some of my pot at age 15, said she preferred trying it in the safety of our home because she was afraid that if she tried it at a party she didn't want to end up out of control and on her back,... what do you say to a child when they ask hard questions like that?... I had a think about it, said ok, and gave her a couple of cones so she could try it safely,... made sense to me but my mrs hit the roof !

Saying that though, I'm not sure I would have wanted her smoking regularly as it is true that the brain is still developing until early 20's.

To me, experimenting is different to maintaining a habit.

When your 18 you can do as you want so it's best to pay attention until then, I think.

haha, hey midnightoker. I think its pretty funny that ur trying to convince ur parents that if u get good grades then u can smoke weed. most parents are just gunna be against weed no matter what. my parents dont like that i smoke weed, but they dont say i cant.

 

There comes an age where your parents will trust you enough to handle your own situations, until then, just hide it.... clear eyes, axe and trident..

when i was in high school i only attended about 50% of the time and still averaged 85% on my exams, reports, etc. the other 50% of the time i was ditching school to go smoke bongs but even though i got good results and believed at that age marijuana wasnt affecting me, i have come to relize it has and those effects will more than likely be long term because of my intake levels for starters my memory is like swiss cheese and i remember bullshit trivial things heaps better than i do stuff that matters, like in high school i get bored extremely fast and turn to marijuana to alleviate that boredom and although i was a fairly lazy person before i started smoking marijuana, smoking mainly indica dominate strains has turned me into a couch potato in comparison to how i was prior to smoking

 

now while those side effects would be great for playing trivial persuit, in reality they are a downside to marijuana that probably wouldnt be so pronounced if i had just stayed clear of mj untill i was out of my teen years

Subsribe to this philosophy myself. Better to be out of their head at home than wandering around the streets stoned.

is it better to encourage your kids to be open and honest with you? is this worth the price of allowing them to do some things you don't approve of?

 

maybe the respect you show your kids by being honest with them and allowing them a small sample when they ask will be returned?

 

nah most kids are stupid, but I do think a lot of parents would do better if they didn't try to force their view of the truth onto their kids so much and give them a chance to use their own brains.
