Mind Destroying Sci-Fi ?

Recommended Posts

Looking along the bookshelf here, I spy...

Issac Azimov, Poul Anderson, Ira Levin, Joe Haldeman, Doris Lessing, Aldos Huxley, Greg Bear, Dan Simmons, Damon Knight, Jules Verne, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Arthur C. Clarke, Frank Herbert, Ray Bradbury, H.G. Wells, and John Wood Campbell. There are also several compilations of short stories and novellas that were originally published in scifi magazines between the 1930's and 1970's.

Joe Haldeman is a particular favourite of mine... if you like your scifi with a dose of hard edged science, Joe's your author.

I wouldn't call scifi 'mind destroying', especially considering how much of the science fiction of the 20th century can be seen as a precursor to science fact.
