Long-term storage & dessicants

Recommended Posts

i have used silica too. desiccant is fine once you have learnt how much silica to use with the weed you have.

of course knowing myself, things did get a little dry to begin with but i just removed the desiccant and allowed my buds to rehydrate over night again. saying that i might look into the humidity beads too, always keen to try new methods. thanks

Hey habilitate, how much dessicant would you use to store a 400-500g say?

i just thought i might add this here.

i recently bought some cigar humidor humidity beads.

i am currently using the 68% beads and they are working a treat. i bought these as an experiment for long term storage i would suggest getting 60% beads but i can say these work great and keep the humidity right where you want it. in fact the 68% beads keep my buds right in that spongy sticky stage which i think is perfect to keep your cure going and its something im experimenting with. so far so good its been 2 weeks now and i can really smell and taste the difference , probably one of the better cures i have had with my bud getting a really sweet orange candy flavour to it. the question is how long can i keep the cure going like this without getting mould? these are designed for storing cigars so im sure they would mould up as well if the humidity was too high so im hoping its ok but im also going to buy some 65% and some 60% to experiment with and figure out which is best.

i would suggest 60% would be great for long term storage but is probably a little too low for a good cure. maybe the 65% is where its at

keep us informed how yours go. im pretty sure curing stops when you go under 60% but if it still continues at 62% that would probably be the safest option.

i am really liking the 68% but it may just be a little too moist. time will tell and hell i have so many jars of weed i dont really care if i lose one for an experiment

Yes sirree forgetiwashere, they are doing a nice job so far. Got a jar of 4 week cure since chop with 62 humi. in for two weeks which is maintaining a nice moisture content. I don't want to crack the seal but I just gotta smell and see what's happening in there.

Test vapes are improving each time I gets the itch to see where the flavours are going.

Will keep updated of changes mate......
