Long-term storage & dessicants

Hey all,

 

Just wondering if any of you store your buds long-term, say 6 months to a year? If so, what methods/containers do you use? I've heard fridges, freezers, tupperware, mason jars etc... and has anyone used, experimented or heard any advice about storing buds with a dessicant sachet or similar in the jar to eat up any oxygen etc (I guess erring on the side of caution?)

just opened a jar of year old buds. I store mine in old Mocacona (instant coffee) glass containers, stored in a closet. (probably 99%+ airtight)

Coffee containers are not the best choice as a screw-top glass container (mason jar) is a much better choice, but... (mason jar is 100% air tight)

When the buds are properly cured there is no need for a desiccant, and with cannabis- oxygen helps to convert inactive THCa to active THC (aka decarboxylation or decarbbing), but at the same time, ya' don't want the buds stored in the open to decarb...

I use Moccona coffee jars too, if I am going to store for a long time then I tape the lid in place.

Ah wicked, thanks for the replies (: I guess when you start learning new things, you tend to get a little over-involved/enthusiastic. Simple is good!

Jars mainly and vacuum sealing at times.

Mate of mine had six pounds stored in rubbish bags inside an old freezer sitting in the back of his shed for four years. The freezer wasn't working but airtight.  The buds were fine.

I place mine in a paper bags then I place in a zip lock kept stuff for a few years like that .

buy some ball mason jars off ebay, they're the best.

The reject shop had some nice mason jars with locking lids for cheap as.....all different sizes too.

Jars are good. I use both Moccona and snap top preserving jars, these can be bought cheap at places like Overflow, Crazy Clarks, etc. I want to try freezing some buds, when I get a few to experiment with.
