Rattys garden 2012

Recommended Posts

Cheers guys.

Been watching the ground temps, they are down to 17c now still all good.

That big dump of rain saved me having to haul water out so thats always a bonus!

We has some full on winds the other night, fortunately the girls plot is fairly well sheltered.  They have a bit of a lean on them all but at least no broken branches etc.

Well last weeks rain tho very much welcome also brought with it the evil grey death!

I had been hoping to get them thru to 1st April, just another week away but more butrot keeps appearing every day.  Most of the hairs have now turned brown so i think they are ready to get the chop.

The hooding really worked well, this is the first time in 10 years i've actually got a crop thru to it finish!

So now its sticky fingers time!

Gotta love the sticky fingers!!!  :)

you can see in the pic that another plant was looking a bit on the sick side, i checked the roots of the last 2 that got sick & they had black fragile root threads, clearly something was not well down under.  Next season i think i'll rest this plot & go n make another spot, just to be on the safe side.

Enjoy the pics & pack a bowl or 2!

Cheers, ratty.

Cheers guys.

Well the harvest is all done & these are by far the best buds i've yet grown outdoors, as good as anything i've grown indoors too.  I found a lots of little spots of budrot, nothing to cry about as they were mostly small spots, probably no more than an ounce lost to rot all up.  Damn good thing i decided to harvest now, especially with a shitload more rain on the way tomorrow.

Couple of things i've noticed that might be worth discussing,

First off i noticed that the outdoor buds seem to have a higher leaf to bud ratio than when grown indoors - i'm talking about the head leaf not the big ass shade leaves.  Not sure why this is so but i would be interested in people opinions on this.

Second, the 2 plants in the pictures above with the yellowing leaves, the sick ones, tho they didn't yield as much (not really much less either) as the other plants their buds were clearly much tighter, more 'nuggety'.

Next season i'm hoping to get my girls into a full fledged greenhouse so hopefully no more battling with the cold climate.  I've very much like to be able to get them flowering early again but i have no idea how t go about hooding an entire greenhouse!

Hi ya rat trap I've also noticed the leaf thing on some of my outsiders also. I thought it could be extra nitrogen in the soil or maybe just the natural light. Would be great to find out tho. I was going to do a home made greenhouse out of poly pipe, star pickets and shade cloth to help dodge the frosts in early spring. Keep up the good work man.
