bufo marinus
Both Mercedes and her mother said it falsely implied they benefited to the tune of more than $2 million from "media deals".They claim it also wrongly suggested they were "uncaring" towards Schapelle Corby and were more interested in their own money and celebrity status than comforting their jailed family member.Mercedes Corby received $50,000 in 2008 for a series of bikini-clad pictures in Ralph magazine among her media earnings, which have included a $30,000 interview with New Idea, while her mother was paid $100,000 for one TV interview.Mercedes Corby previously won a confidential payout - reported to be as high as $2 million - after a defamation case against Channel 7 in 2008.Part of the profits from Schapelle Corby's tell-all book My Story were seized in 2009 under proceeds of crime legislation, which stops criminals profiting from their notoriety. Hard to accurately work out why this particular case recieved so much coverage? It has nothing to do with right or wrong. Ordinary everyday bogans fingered by the law... Is it because Schapelle Corby is considered shagworthy by lots of guys? What is it? What really drives debate in this fucking stupid country of ours?
Frazz
What really drives debate in this fucking stupid country of ours? unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, envy, murder, deceit, malignity, scandal, whisperers and gossip .... they seem to be the main drivers of debate from my viewpointin Corby's case the baseline of the story appear to have been roughly modeled on the children's folk-tale 'Cinderella'
bufo marinus
Yeah, if someone was caught with 4kg of pot in Australia it'd barely make the 4th page of the local paper and be covered in budgie shit by the end of the week,... but stick that same 4kg in a boogie board bag and send it off somewhere exotic with a chick and fuckin hey presto! a news story that will span decades and be talked about and understood in both public bars and hair salons alike! like, you couldn't make this shit up if you tried,... forget about activism, bogans from the Goldie will drive the debate on drugs and drug laws
