New 1600 Watt Grow Room

Recommended Posts

Thanks Badseed, that had me pretty confused, I thought hydroponics meant you actually had to be using a hydroponic unit, rookie mistake.

Stix I changed over to my 600 mh, it's the smallest globe i have handy, I can already see the little green tops coming through so it must be doing a good job.

Could one of you fellers explain my nutrient instructions for me though? The label instructs 15ml per 10L, I would rather mix up in liter soloutions for now, is this possible if I scale it down? So 1L would need around .7ml? Sorry for all the questions guys, I've searched around here and other sites but some things I just can't seem to find a clear answer for.

My little lads are up to day 5 now, I watered them with the nutes day 3. They're still under the single 600w light, when's a good time to give them more light?

Here are a couple of pics for you guys, they look healthy and strong, but I think I may have planted the two on the left end a little shallow, In time i might have a problem with them falling over, any thoughts/ideas on this one?

Nice variety you've got there El, and yeah I'm a total noob, this is my first indoor. Would maybe trying 4 plants in my space be a bit better?

G'day Frazz, good pick lol. Thanks for your helpful tips, I'm a bit worried about the warmer weather approaching, but like you said it can be moderated. What kind of a room are you using to grow?

So its all about surface area, Power (watts) and root mass.

Training a plant allows the plant to send out shoots to fill a canopy. The plant takes care of surface area.

The other limiting factors are how powerful the light is and how large the rootmass can become.

Being able to get in a trim and train the plant to increace surface area is really valuable.

Unless you want to do a SOG, then there would be an optimum number of clones per/m2.

Perhaps someone here already knows what that is.

Thanks iTiC, very useful knowledge there. It is still on my mind to maybe scrog, but I think it might be a bit difficult to get into my room if I use a net, so instead i might try LST for this grow, I'll keep 4 of the 6 in there at this stage. Do you know if there are calculators to work the clone/m2 theory?

G'day 87 Bud, thats a clever soloution thanks, and yeah i will back off them a bit untill then i think now!

Hi Mr Jane,

Yr SCROG net doesnt need to fill your whole space. Some ppl use a trailer net stretched out to fill the whole space and that is a pain in the ass to navigate around.

But placing a piece of fencing netting over the area you intend to fill works just as well. I have heard of fellas using heavy gauge steel mesh placed on bricks as a SCROG net but one bloke his mesh fell off the bricks and snapped stems, where fencing mesh has a lot less weight and you can bend it down so it supports its own weight, like legs over the pots.

My SCROG net now is a purpose built steel frame with adjustable legs. I use the fencing netting welded to the frame. I have enough room to move around the room and reach all parts of the plant. It works a treat.
