New 1600 Watt Grow Room

Recommended Posts

Hello again everyone, it's been a while between posts!

I finally decided on buying a Growlush grow tent 1.95x1.95x2m.

For lighting I went with one 600w hps and one 1000w mh lamp, I will use this for veg, then when flowering comes I will use 600w mh and 1000w hps.

Ventilation will be carried out through a 6" centrifugal fan, which I plan on having outside the tent, connected with the 6" carbon filter, further ducting it directly outside.

I haven't purchased a silencer yet, I wasn't sure how loud the fan would actually be, can anyone confirm thier effectiveness?

I've got 6 feminized Pure Kush seeds germinating presently, the description along side them says that these plants are capable of 900g/m2. I read somewhere that 400w of light is equal to one square meter of growing, following this theory does 1600w become 4m2 of efficient growth space? What kind of results would you expect with this set up? I'm growing in a coco/perlite mixture.

If anyone has any comments, suggestions or tips I would appreciate the help! Thanks!

Awesome stuff MJ.

I have a silencer and it works ok but I still get noise. I box my fans up in big plastic storage containers filled with crushed foam. I get a bit of noise from the air getting pushed through the ducting, but all in all my set up is pretty quiet.

I am keen to see how the Pure Kush turns out as I got one seed of it to try.

I also would expect a fair bit of bud. Maybe running two 600w would have been better to get a good light spread. But either way if ya let them get a bit of size about them, get some roots happenin and have a fairly trouble free run you should get a pound.

To get 900g/m2 is a well tuned enviorment in a sea of green. If ya get 300-500g/m2 you will be doin good.

Best of luck with it.

Thanks El Gato, that helps.

I was going to go with the 2 600w, but after using the grow calculator which told me optimum lighting was 1636, I figured it was worth a shot.

What strain are you growing at the moment? And what are the specifics of your grow room? I'll be posting pics of progress along the way so you'll get to see them grow up:)

That's still a pretty decent yield, you do mean a pound per plant right?

In time a pound per plant, but not with 6.

Anyways you could get more but I'm tryin to be realistic for a noob, I don't know how green ya thumbs are.

I grow now Hindu Kush, pineapple chunk and bubble gum in a 1.2x1.2x2m tent. 600w 3 x 52l pot. I normally run bag seed, one plant under 400w in 52l pot and get about a pound on average. But no way will I get 3 pound now. The room is full now. See how it goes.

heya Mr Jane :peace: ... your enthusiasm is great it will help you along the way .. from your post i assume you are kinda new to this game so, may i offer some suggestions ..

growing indoors in an artificial environment presents many variables as each situation is different, each growers approach is different also

perhaps you could discount the pre-determined weight expectation and concerntrate on perfecting the actual growing method

1600 watts of high intensity light is brilliant but also generates intense heat, which combined with ambient summer temperatures can send temperatures spiraling upward to uncomfortable levels

nevertheless such factors can be planned for and moderated to a certain degree

im glad you have come here to OzStoners because the collective growing knowledge and help freely offered by the members here is almost boundless and should be your greatest ally in this project you have set yourself

growing is a very rewarding and fun hobby and im sure if you are patient and persevere you will master it and enjoy it also

all the best with it

:peace:

Nice variety you've got there El, and yeah I'm a total noob, this is my first indoor. Would maybe trying 4 plants in my space be a bit better?

G'day Frazz, good pick lol. Thanks for your helpful tips, I'm a bit worried about the warmer weather approaching, but like you said it can be moderated. What kind of a room are you using to grow?

hey mate nice setup. It dosnt matter how many plants u have in ur room. You could have one plant in that room veg it for longer and get exactly the same off 4 plants. Its all down to the size of your room and light u can only gro a certain amount of bud from what ur using. If u want more bud increase the size of the room, then u will need extra light for optimum growth.

a mate has a 3.0+1.5+2.0 room with 3 600w he use to grow 6 plants then new laws come in to effect so he now grow 3 plants gets exactly the same off them 3 then having to grow 6. all he dose is veg them longer let the growth take over the room like i said the science only allows us to produce a certain amount under certain conditions

Exactly!

Im most situations the only reason to grow more plants without increasing room/light/size/amount/pot size is to have more strains.

Sometimes if ya not confident and only want to run a certain number of plants, add a few more and when you are ready for flower select the best and cull the rest.

Thats great advice thanks haze, makes everything clearer now.

I've got 5 seeds that I germinated for roughly 60 hours in a glass of water beforehand in a coco/perlite mix. I'm only watering by hand, only pre soaking before planting the seeds so far. I haven't added nutes yet, the guy at the store sold me NF coco part A+B, he said it would be fine to use with hand watering, but on the bottles it says for hydroponic use only? Could someone steer me in the right direction here?

I've got the seeds under the 1000W mh until they sprout up a little, I wasn't so sure if the 600W hps would be overkill for the seedling stage?

Here's some pics for you guys, nothing to exciting yet though:p
