Wierd looking tops

Hi all, was over my mates last night. He was asking about if his girls could re veg after flowering. Gave him the normal long story about how you can re veg them blah blah. But he wasn't talking about that. He pulled me into his room, he has about 2-3 weeks left by the look of them, but out of the top of one of his buds, there is new growth. Like the bud is trying to stretch. Never seen it before. I did the normal checks, all the times are right, no light leaks, there about 8-10 inch away from 600 light. I have no idea what it is. The rest of the buds look fine.

 

I said just cut the shoot off as its taking energy away from the bud under it. Any one seen this before.

 

Could it be a heat issue. Or just an abnormality in the 2nd stage of flowering.

I had a similar issue after using pyrthren 4 weeks before harvest to kill spider mites.

heya Chopperw33d =), mate, classic heat problem symptoms. Firstly Imo, Get a temp probe and sit it near the colas, think ya mate may be suprised how warm it gets up there. Had the same prob under a 400hps lowbay with sum sk crosses.no probs with the same plants under a 400hps with the batwing style shade.Figured out that i might have the the light too close- 200mm.from top of plants. No burning of leaves but this reveg prob happening at top main bud/head Can only conclude that the lowbay type of light its more of a penetrating/straight down spectrum rather than the more spread out spectrum of thebatwing.

Next grow with same strain i hung the lowbay at a distance of 300mm from the top of plant and had no reveg probs this time..

Hi all, I had a feeling it might be heat. I have never had the issue. So wanted to ask before telling him. Just lucky it's only two colas not the lot.

 

Thanks for fast response all. Heading over there now. It's all ways nice when you get a simple problem with a simple fix. Raise the lights. Lucky barstard has boo coo overload of hight. Dam near 3.4 meters roof

I would suspect light interruption. I have had all sorts of heat issues over the years but only ever had reveg when something has gone wrong in the dark period. Things like tending ur plants during lights out and using fluros or timer stuff ups where lights are coming back on for a short period without u realizing or fused contact where lights just stay on....good luck...D.S
