12/12 , when do you start your count down?

Recommended Posts

10/6, 11/7. WTF?!

Have read about this method in High Times mag. Basically with 6 hours daylight and 10 hours darkness you get an extra day every 3 days. The downside to this method is that yield will be substantially reduced, as a result High Times didn't recommended it and said that 12/12 is best.

I suppose you may use this method on a sativa that would normally take say 14 weeks.

... and dont pick until milky to amber :bongon:

To me this is the more important than times. Keeping a record of days/weeks is good for when you plan to grow that variety again later, coz you'll know what to expect. But when to pick should always be based on close examination of the trichs.

I know its off the subject but I have also read about people using 12 hrs light and 18 hrs darkness in flower. So you lose days instead of gaining days. I dont have a timer that can do that so I have never tried.

True

but some plants can be

manipulated by the amount of light they receive

and how often

like for re-vegging after flowering

Peace

tru but re-vegging simply mimics natures cycle of returning to summer after the plant has not been pollinated , a natural possible outcome of its light cycle which it has done for millions of years

10/6 every 3 days or whatever about is not natural . you cant beat 3 billion years of plant evolution based on 24 hour rotations of the planet

Cannabis uses photo period to know when to flower.

You can use continuous light and they will stay in veg forever.

Unless you are talking about an Autoflowering variety like when I grew some Green O Matic. She started flowering under 24/7 and not all autoflowers can do that!

Great strain from Greenhouse seeds if your into Autos.

You can count from the flip into 12/12, or preflowers, or go on the strain. But as it was said before go on your lovely Tricones. As the condition of your room change during winter to summer. I have grown the same strain for about 2 years. Always from cuttings off my mother plant, and I always know there going to take an extra 1-2 weeks in winter.

If you want buds that give you a nice high pick when milky, or you want real couch lock buds take when amber. But for me I take them at 50/50, good yeild and good stone.
