12/12 , when do you start your count down?

Recommended Posts

Hi Z,

Budzz info is good especially the pics. The last one ere I also have, but I didn't post it cos I disagree with the big red 'TOO LATE'

But that first pic is perfect. It shows the white hair like pistils coming out of the green calyx. Look closely at the calyx, it has little mushroom looking things with what looks like a drop of water on top.

That mushroom looking thing is the trichome. That is what you look for the colour in.

Now those pics of yours are good pics, they show the whole bud, pistils all nice and white, but I cant see the trichomes. These things are tiny and the closer in to the bud you are the more likely you are to see them but the photo needs to be a close up of the bud.

Here is one of mine

See those sparkley bits that look like glitter, thats them

Under a 40x microscope

You can see the clear/white trichomes and the browned pistills. Leaving it longer to mature will change the trichomes further, from white to amber to brown.

This pic gives you an idea of what I mean by small

Under 384x magnification

So to actually view the colour you really do need a microscope. Their 'true' colour is very difficult/impossible to see by the naked eye

Mate thanks heaps for taking the time to get this through to me :db: eventually i get it through my thick head.. i do have a tiny cheap microscope thing, it's 60x and cost a massive $3.50 from honkers but does seem to work, i can see the trichomes but they are still quite small at this stage so looks like i need to be patient, not my best quality.. i will be trying to do as you do and let the hairs drop off a couple of times and see what the end product is like.. Great to finally understand the diff between pistols and trichomes, only taken me 25 years of growing to get it right, derrrr

Thanks again and have a great day guys..

In regard to ya microscope, here's what I use for the trichomes when thet are still growing. Works a treat. $18 on ebay.

For greater magnification and off the plant pics I use this

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=QC3247

It has a measuring tool and you can take snapshots of what you are viewing.

I don't know about the 'Derrrrrr' bit, I used the brown hairs for years until I learnt and I think most old school growers did. But as methods improve so do the techniques (Well thats my excuse anyway).

Hey horatio, would love to see your harvest photos of buds at 35-40 days on 10/6 with an indy ..... sorry if i hijacked this thread with this comment ..... circadian rhythms in plants are hormonally established ...... meaning you can fuck with a plant with its light cycle and still have the hormones necessary for bud development ..... regardless ... i'd like to see your harvest photos of the aforementioned light cycle ....

ciao,
