I'm in the market for a new fan to cool the tips of the plants and while searching came across these :

There's a few different types, most seem to be cheap Chinese ones (like above) that copy the dearer Dyson version.

Factors I like are low power consumption, slimline design that will fit into the corner of the tent not taking up much room, 90 degree oscillation and I'm guessing quiet operation.

Anyone used these before or know anything about them ?

I also came across these that look OK but shipping is a killer and they would have the wrong power point plug.

At least these have been designed specifically for this application. Don't know how long the hong-kong cheapies would last or if they'll burn my house down http://www.highgrade-seeds.com/YaBBImages/grin.gif

I've seen them about the place too. Honestly though, I wouldn't be buying a chinese knock off. For the reasons you mentioned, might have the wrong plug, and it could very well end up costing you a house just to save a few dollars.

I love their concept. No blades to clean, no grills getting coated in lint, less power used.

Hopefully someone will come up with some viable info for ya. :)

the plug isn't an issue as you can buy adaptors for a couple of dollars in a duty free store or even in a chinese bargain shop if your area is flooded with them :)

You'll want to check the voltage though but Chinese should be alright.

One thing you'll want to think about though is the filtering in the knock offs. I would assume Dyson's fans have a specially designed (re: expensive) filtering system that may perform a lot better than knock offs. If you think of the blades of a normal oscillating fan, they can get dusty and dirty if you don't clean them, I would assume that this would be the same thing however the filter is inside the unit. the knock off filter may not be of the same quality as the Dyson.

I'd go the standard fan you linked although you could find a better and cheaper one in Kmart or something

Yay Stix87 !

Great advice.

There are so many people getting ripped off with "special" gear for their cannabis grow.

Weird chemicals weirder additives

Weird fans now !

Soon someone will be advertising "cannabis grow pots" $200 each. Made for cannabis.

And they'll sell like hotcakes too.

i recomend something like this. bought one of these (different brand) for a tent i have. after switching it on i drove directly back down to the shop and bought 2 more for my other 2 tents they are that good. the rotating louvre on the front moves air in a cyclonic fashion. gives you awesome circulation. plus u drill holes in the feet and hang it upside down on yoyo hangers and u can raise and lower it as your plants grow awesome

Quite possible, given the Dyson ones are $400-$600, sure you pay a bit for the name, but there's gotta be some compromise on quality. Apparently they have a small impeller that creates a pressure gradient which results in the movement of air through the hoop bit. Sounds like a good idea, might wait till I see some workingin a shop.

That's a top idea mate. Love the versatility of hanging it on the yo-yos. Nice and slim design and won't take up any floor space, sweet !
