Aussie's Outdoor Super Soil Recipe

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, sorry it's been so long forgot about this thread didn't realise it had got so many comments. Ignore this soil recipe, since this post i've been experimenting with different ingredient and ratios and this would be quite expensive to make if you had to make large quantities.

Updated version of this super soil:
1 Bag organic composted cow or sheep manure
1 Bag organic composted chicken manure
1 Bag organic potting soil (check for certified organic symbol)
1 Bag organic compost or mushroom compost (no bark)
2-3 Bags of perlite
2-3 Bags of Vermiculite
1 Coco brick
Slow release organic fertilliser

Blood & bone (according to instructions on pack, no added potash)
Trace elements (apply according to instructions on pack)
Dolomite Lime (according to instructions on pack)

How To Mix:
(will make a little more than 1 wheelbarrow full, double recipe for more or half for less)

1. Add the manures, compost & potting mix together. Soak 1 coco brick in water and mix it in with the other ingredients.
2. Add the perlite & vermiculite and mix well.
3. Apply blood & bone, dolomite lime & trace elements according to instruction on pack mix well.
4. Apply slow release fertilizer on top of the soil, I use dynamic lifter or neutrog sea mungus.

It's optional to bury dead fish scraps but not necessary.
Bury a dead fish if you can find one, any other dead animals like road kill will do or food scraps like fish heads, guts, etc...dig a hole halfway deep into the soil mix and put the fish in the hole, put some water in the bottom of the hole and cover back up with existing soil.

If leeching occurs, it's good to boost the soil back up with microbial life so a pro-biotic can be used such a gogo juice every 2-3 weeks.

Note: you have to allow time for the ingredients to settle and for the mix to cool down, the mix will be hot and can burn young plants. It can be used straight away without fish and if all the ingredients are composted before hand. Bagged manure is generally composted so can be directly applied.

Im just wondering, my repotting my plants in the next coiple of days into different pots. Reading on this soil mix makes me think I don't have good enough soil. I just been using an organic soil mix with worms. Is it possible to mix this up and then use straight away in the pots? or could I leave out the manure etc to get a decent soil mix with ph balance?

Hey bud, great super soil recipe .... you should also note that once the dirt is brewing over the few months that it should not dry out and be kept moist, not damp but moist. A lot of people tend to keep it covered when its brewing and let it air out once a week. It also needs to be tilled every 3 weeks, turned... mixed etc.

Rock minerals are a good addition to that mix...... Kelp powder is a must and cottonseed meal..... less of the manures. I wouldnt have bothered with the slow release ferts with all of the animal waste youve already added.

Stupid question - Have you got any photos of any previously harvested plants that have grown in that mix ? You have grown in it right?

Grow Strong.

Hey there PT

just a little note for ya , make of it as you will ,

cotton is one of the worst for pesticides and GMO's

neem seed meal maybe a better choice

http://growingorganicmarijuana.com/subcools-super-soil-improved - Lists the original supersoil mix and further developments.

Hope its okay dropping that link. Knowledge is power.
