^ Got a bag of dolomite probably a bag of gypsum as well, will throw them in

This is next seasons soil it will sit once mixed till November for the veggies and December for the medical , unless a hothouse appears before then

Probably chuck some things in pots over winter see how it goes

 

Any early problems will sort themselves out by then

treat it like compost making , carbon to nitrogen 

it will heat up that way & be ready sooner , gotta turn it though 

 

cold composting can sometimes take years , depending where you live 

 

i would also get some aeration in there now as well , like scoria , 7mm it's cheap 

you could also use rice hulls from a brew shop , cheap as well , will be a carbon source 

in your compost mix & feed fungi , will break down slowly but "will" break down so something 

else would be needed for aeration if using rice hulls 

 

we know a bit more these days than 20yrs ago , people got sick of being sold shit & are finding

much better / healthier ways to grow

BTW the aeration could slow the composting process possibly 

 

guys are making worm farms out of fabric pot putting everything fresh in the pot including aeration with worms 

& in X number of months they plant straight in & continue to top dress food for worms & the plant

Attached is my contribution to this topic.

 

The super soil spread sheet has mainly used locally sourced items as well as estimated costs.

 

I'm looking for feedback especially if anyone knows of any easily sourced ingredients.

 

Its handy because all I have to do is enter the amount and size of pots then the sheet does the rest for me and even estimates a cost.

This is so what the community needed really. Just some straight forward info on what is needed. What price and some pics to show proof. Getting started soil recipes seemed to be some locked away secret you had to spend hours trying to decipher and find with some gems in the rough and having hard times finding AUS comparison mixes. Anyway cheers guys you're helping the community more than you know making it easier to get started. A good soil is king in this game!

i buy the EM-1 / probiotic living liquid ( 2nd link ) all the time

Ok got this Bru all mixed up n been cooking now for a week, just wondering how long will this soil last through my grow befor I have to feed her nutrients? Or should this soil go the distance in 20l pots? It's my first ever grow and will have one each of ak-47, purple haze and a gold leaf. Can't wait and hope it turns out good, any info on when it would be best for me to start my grow would be appreciated, I'm in south east QLD.

hi! you're not so specific on the ratio for mixing them. so what would you recommend adding for a 50l soil bag?
