Aye captain..dat be me..I got some WW here...

No slow growth problems with it at all..me thinks maybe operator error remembering that ww doesnt from reports to seem to like loads of nutes...so watch it

Yeh GTG the ww needs the stressing to bring out the frost its well known for....the extra two weeks will add the frosting to it...but also alter the stone of the smoke (imo)

Im miles off flowering my ww..lack of room problems...so its in the sun for now...and loving it....

My GWS is a resin king so far...4 weeks into flowering and those leaves are resin heaven

I got some white label white widow a while back, and it had a few phenotypes. Smells a lot, and I kept one as a mother. Nice smoke, 10 weeks seemed right. I got one that looked like ww normally does and one that was a lot more indica looking, but still took as long to finish, just fatter buds and a heavier smoke. I'll eventually probably try to hunt down the greenhouse strain cause these are good knockoffs, but not the real thing that I saw in Holland.

I give my plants 48 hrs dark, it smooths the smoke and takes the cough out, and no I do not have any scientific proof on that, only personal experience.

yeah that kinda makes me think I'm right about the lack of chlorophyll, its a bit like an extra flush for the plants, as less chlorophyll is what we are all trying to achieve for a smoother taste.

I've done it once and never noticed much difference, but I wasn't looking at the taste I was looking for resin devolopment, once tried putting ice in my res in winter too, with white genetics it will give even paler bud. but don't try it, learnt it from a stupid book, it will make your plants look overwatered and sick in no time.

Yeah, if it was anything being done to the plants it would be a cannibalisation of the chlorophyll, sorta like flusing and sorta like curing really. I doubt it's any actual increase in trichome production, as white cluster has said. Although I must add that I think I read somewhere that resin production is a night process, as during the day more resin is lost or degraded than produced because of the light. Could be wrong tho, it was a while back.

I think you may be on the right track whitecluster, with the flushing thing, I can't see how starving the plant for light and thus food could make it produce more resin. It would be more likely to make it try and self pollinate wouldn't it? It could make the smoke smoother tho... :D

One way to check would be to monitor a few sections of the canopy before and after the removal of light for trichome size and production, by using a microscope or excellent micro camera to record these whilst still on the plant. If you were careful enough you could monitor their size as the light is removed and see if there is any swelling during this extra dark time, or if it's just stable.... Just a thought. :D
