Back around 1980-81, I.E.Hewitt & G.K.Mitchell published a book called "The Advanced growers Guide To Marijuana Cutivation" .

In this i read an article it went i "quote" from page 22 ,

Colchicine

Colchicine is a poisonous compound extracted from the roots of certain colchicine species.Colochicine inhibits chromosome segregation to daughter cells and cell wall formation, resulting in larger than average daughter cells with multiple chromosome sets. This effectively alters the cannabis from diploid to polyploid.

It is debatable whether or not polyploid stains increase the potency of your cannabis although many desirable effects are achived.

Polypoloids require more awter and are usually more sensitive to changes in the enviroment.

The growth cycles are prolonged by up to 30% to 40% in polyploids. It may take up to 10 months for a polyploid to reach full maturity. Colchicine treated plants tend to grow much larger and far more dense than there diploid counterparts.

Page 23 - "A Case Study"

Colchicine was obtained in the form of tablets used to treat gout. These were crushed and a solution of water was made up containing 0.5% colchicine.

100 seeds were soaed in the solution overnight. These seeds were then planted and of those 14 germinated. 2 weeks later 13 of the 14 had died. 1 treated healthy plant remaied.(colchicine treatment is usually fatal to cannabis seeds. There is a fine line between polyploidy and death.)

Colchicine treatment will also deform the leaf lamina.

This strange leaf deformity, with 1 normal leaf with curled smooth leaf on each side, remained for the first 3 months, then these were discarded and normal leaf took their place.

The treated plant grew over a nine month period and matured with 100's of small floral clusters. The plant was selectively fertilised with a Thai male so that seed could be collected.

This plant turned out to be the most productive, large and dense plant the authors had ever seen. !

"End of Quote"...........................................................!

There was is a photo of the plant they speak of beside this article, and it is @#cking massive the largest i have ever seen also.
