Low Watt Lights

Recommended Posts

Yes it did relate to indoor lighting BUT it is also CURRENT AUSTRALIAN NEWS since it arrived last Monday (the 200 watt) and is the latest in technology.

Everyone's a critic.

Thanks Kimba,

I read the full post and have been to the web site. Must say they look the goods. Can only find either Yank or Canadian "stores",

are they available in Australia?

Sorry I did not return your message sooner, however after posting yesterday, I had visitors. Had to close in a hurry.

Sounds like you are already using them, can you keep us updated.

Thanks

Widowdoc

I think if you look at the home page of www.fearlessgardener.com you'll see a link "Now Coming to Australia".

The Canadian guy who's doing it is struggling get stock through customs and air freight. I had purchased a couple of 125's and some shades last month and and have just recieved the 2*200 watters but are waiting for the T5's and another shade to come. The airport have been giving him the usual Australian high quality of service and he's almost lost it with them.

He told me that most of the stock will be here in about a month.

They are great light who's supplier is slowly getting it together. The web site is another convoluted mess. If anyone can find the "Air Tables" send me the link.

I would like to update my previous comment of: "They are a great light whos supplier is slowly getting it together" and change it to "they are a great light with a supplier who desperatly needs organising and preparation online as well as in Australia. Their other products may or may not be also great, but besides the samples, how can we tell, if they're (the products) not even here yet and the links haven't been updated online? Other questions like total amounts for set-ups etc are very premature."

I think everyone feels the need for the items today and not at some undefined future date.

So the ladies have reached week 5 under the 200 watters. I have them on a twin horizontal shade over a 4*2 foot (sigh) table. They are all heading up nicely though the penetration doesn't seem to be anything like my HiD. I have seen the grow chambers (and been told about, twice) that have vertical lights pointing down beside the ladies. I'm don't think this is good as it would be difficult (impossible) to keep the girls from being burnt. Sure they're cool lights, but direct contact frys em anyway. So I'd be looking at high maintenance as I need to tie the girls back, constantly as they all head towards the lights.. Hmm. I think they're great, but...the HiD reigns supreme a bit longer I feel. Dr Doug suggested a solar swing or rail for the HiD and permanent Enviro's. Great Idea but if I want a staggered crop I would have to manually adjust the height of the tables as the HiD would be the same hieght for all the tables it passes over. Either that or massive harvest every 9-12 weeks. It's all to hard for my meager demands. All I wanted was a low watt light that was the same as my bang/zip HiD. High hopes. The blue 125 Envirolite with single shade is a different story. My babies thrived doubling in size in a week. Fastest and healthiest plants ever. It's a bit hotter than my old flouro but not a problem for the fans and about another 50% area (compared to a 1/2 size double flouro bank) as you put it higher (40-50cm). Edited by Kimba

I have dived in head first. (usual tactic, observe results and wish I had planned it a bit)

So these new red lights aren't up to the performance of the HiD, but the Blue light is beyond compare. Amazing leaf growth. But to have three times the tables, the yeild can suffer a bit.

Getting the wizz-bang new 6600 Nokia (2.2 Megapixel with 2* zoom) in November. Then we'll see some JPEG's. But.. until then.

The set up (ad hoc now)

three four by two foot tables spaced by two foot gap. Each table will have either a single double shade (1) or two aluminum adjust-a-shades(4) on adjustable string things. The tables will be in a large enclosed room with i/o air vents and an oscillating fan for each table. The outlet vent goes to an carbon filter with a fan ($610). That's the flower room. The clones are placed in there after a two/three weeks under the single blue 125 watt enviro. I have a 1/2 flouro bank for the mum's and another Easy Garden that spits out about fifteen clones every ten days. Even the 1/2 size shade for veging is too much as I can never find space to flower the adolescants girls.

This new system is to replace 600 watt Hid. The flouro's are low watt to start with so the mum and clone room can stay. The 125 blue light is used to veg the clones before they go into flower. The flower room is 12/12 forever as the clone and mum room is 24/7 always.

18/6? Why? Tell my plants that thrive that it's quicker to have 6 hours a day less energy. (they will not listen but they'll grow a bit whilst)

All up a cutting to flower takes about sixteen weeks. Two weeks rooting, four weeks veging then ten weeks in the flower room.

With the new easy garden I have made it almost hands free. The flowers all drip five times a day, The clones flood once daily all I have to do is water the veging clones.

I will keep a ongoing record. Week 5 and the PK-13-14 is started. The heads are about the size of a roll of quarters (shoot me) but have noticably swollen. I'm hoping they fill out like the HiD control table whoes buds where a lot bigger at week five. Waiting. Also have some insect infection. Mosquito looking things.

Kimba, just to clarify, are you saying that you're not getting a lot of leaf growth under the red envirolite but you are with the full spectrum envirolite?

If so this would seem to make sense as the red spectrums should promote bud (flower) development not vegative (leaf) development. At least hat is supposed to be the theory.

It will be interesting to see how the buds are after their full flowering cycle in another 5 weeks and how they would compare to a bud grown under your hid's, not just the size but also the quality of the bud ie. the high and how much pistal or resin development there has been.

Have you considered running red and full spectrum lights together during flowering?

The point I was making is the blue Envirolite gave me plant growth that's better than the HiD. As I run my HiD constantly on 12/12 I do all the veging under a blue 125 enviro. The leaves have been filling out extremely well (better than ever before) and the plants shoot up. I doubt that even the HiD if it was on 24/7 would veg as well as the Enviro and T5's. The problems start after then. When the veged clones are put under the lights they are about a foot high. Over the next month they double in size and form a nice canopy. I prune all the main shade leaves to promote branches.

have two tables spaced by about 2-3 weeks. One under a 600HiD and the other with twin 200watts Envirolite over a smaller table.

So on the m^2 HiD table I veged the babies another two weeks longer and put them in at about two foot high. I only needed four plants to fill a the m^2 this way. The same ole: cut the shade leaves, promotes lot's of branches, prune the dark lower 1/3 of everything in week three/four. The plants grow twice as big, so so the buds are bigger too. But the buds are also spaced more over the Hid's ladies. Their buds have bloomed even on the lower branches with little light. The ine under the Enviro's have large buds across the canopy and smaller buds below, as expected. I would be surprised though to find the Envirolites buds though smaller are stronger and thicker. Though I also be surprised if the yeild of two Enviro tables (4*2 foot) with four 125's was more than the yeild from the 600 HiD. Waiting,,,

The dream system when finish will have six tables with vertical Enviro's under a rail HiD that travels back and forth over all the tables.

My new room is to have three tables under six Enviro's on Accent's small adjust-a-shades. The new room also has a carbon filter connected to the outlet. Ready by February I hope. All the $ spent and I'll have a room to photo.
