Outdoor Seeds

Valley Villian - I think youre mostly full of shit.

Males and Hermies arent nice to smoke and growing them wastes effort if you just want buds - theres feminized hybrids for a reason. You get mouldy Indica in northern NSW because its so cold and damp down there during the nights.

Grow in full sunlight if you can but shade the seedlings until 6" since its hot now [theyll grow a bit slower but its worth it]. If you see dew at nights grow in pots and take them inside IMO.

Mulch the plant when its 6" also - dont let mulch touch the stem though.

How the hell are you going to get seeds for the next generation if you pull all the males and hermies?

If you have all female crops, and you don't selectively pollinate, the slightest bit of stress outdoors will trip them into hermaphrodite mode. Which is a total bummer.

Just separate the males and hermies from the females, select the best plants from each crop and breed them.

Otherwise you have to start from scratch every time.

How is that full of shit?

And btw: males can be used for cookies, and hermaphrodites (at least some of them) produce a decent enough smoke which is good for mix, cookies and rolling big joints out of.

Also you get heaps of seeds to chuck around.

It's a different story if you grow indoors, because you can propagate from clones. Outdoors, your plants die at the end of every season. So you are obliged to grow from seeds if you want to preserve the genetics from the last season.

Growing from seed is great. For the next generation you just choose some more seeds to buy - backyard breeders fuck [pollinate] other peoples crops. Noone wants to grow a thousand seeds unless theyre in it for the money.

Sinsemilla is the word for today. :P

So, by your reasoning, we should all be buying our seeds every generation off some seedbank based in a foreign country.

Not to mention the risk involved, your solution is ridiculous.

Growing your own seeds is the best way to develop strains which are adapted to your local environment. Only the best survive, and over time, you can develop your own strain.

Sinsemilla is good, but remember it is Espanol for "little seed". That means a small amount of seeds within the buds, not heaps of seed, and not a total lack of seed.

If you only grow buds which are 100% seed-free, how are the consumers going to become producers?

How are you going to overgrow Australia with a lack of vision like this?

The only way cannabis will escape into the Australian environment is when growers stop producing total sinsemilla and make seeds available for all smokers to grow.

Sinsemilla = total selfishness.

And BTW: I hope my males and hermies are fucking all the girls all over the Valley, that way they'll drop seeds and increase the chances of cannabis escaping into the ecosystem.

Yours sincerely

If in doubt about anything just ask after reading the FAQ and some grow guides. Theres some books about growing marijuana [links in my sig] that can give you an idea of what to do but the best thing is to have a plan and ask if it sounds good - chances are itll be good enough for an outdoor grow but may need some tweaking [deeper pot, more sun, better nutes etc].

Hello I'm kida new here but I'm a season grower . & I wanted to address

the Issue of seeds in your weed . growing outdoors & Indoors are 2 different things ( as we all no) . I pollenate my plants myself (Indoor)but only the bottom half of the plant . seeds cost way to much ,to go out & buy every

grow . its best if you clone but not all of us have time or space to do this .

so pollenate your buds . but don't go wacko & let your buds be full of seeds . that suck !!!I love seedless herb its the only way to go . who wants

to pick seeds out of there buds , not to mention that when your buds are

seeding they direct there focus to making seeds ,not resin . thats why I like to use the bottom 1/2 for seeds . that way I can kick my friends down with seeds that I started ..a good breeeder is good old Skunk#1 . Oh yeah another reason behind pollenateing lower buds is that the best bud

comes from the top 15 Inches . anyways I know I'm not a MOderator here but it sucks when you talk shit to your people . ( be good to each other ) besides we all love weed & thats our common ground !!!!!

My 2 cents

erix, what you're saying doesn't make a lot of sense. Firstly, you save space with a mother/clone system and not growing from seed all the time. Every time you grow males thats wasted space under your light. You only need a tiny cupboard with a fluoro or two for mothers so I don't understand why you wouldn't do it if you were growing indoors.

Secondly, why would you pollinate the whole bottom half of your plants? That is a total waste. Pollinating one bud on one plant can give hundreds of seeds....more than enough for you and your mates.

and another thing that doesn't make sense, how do you pollinate the bottom half only of your plants? If you male is in the same growspace your entire plants would be pollinated. So, you must remove males to a separate grow space huh? Well, thats were you should be keeping your mother plant, not useless males.

Pipeman:

To selectively pollinate, just move the males away from the main crop. Chop them back and probably harvest all except the male with the best characteristics based on your personal choice.

And then tape paper bags over the flowering spikes of the male when they develop. These paper bags can then be taken off after a few days and placed over the lower buds of your best female.

And since there's room for all to have fun in the sun, there is no loss in efficiency by growing males.

And you continue the genetics from the season before.

Simple eh?

This is "Outdoor Growing" mate: it's not rocket science. Of course you can grow a few plants from clones, but the problem is most growers vegetate on high light levels (18-24 hrs light on per day) so the clones get a headfuck when they go outside if they use your method.

So it's far easier to grow from seeds every year and just let the plants do the work.
