DWC Links...

27 links to OG are more like spamming than helping other growers, OG would block you if you tried to post that many links to Oz Stoner's there. If you can personally contribute your own knowledge then it would be greatly appreciated, however we are building an Australian site here with its own identity, not a site for links to OG.

Posts touting for other sites are not welcome and may be removed at a moderator’s discretion, future ones will be.

I'll be putting a thread together for my first DWC set-up (first indoor setup for that matter) based on the information contained both here @ ozstonerz and any pertinent info from the links posted by Tabbycat.

Will keep everyone updated with my progess and maybe do a thread a la the Vaz-O-Tron. Just putting the plans together ATM so it may be a couple of weeks off yet.

Here's a draft plan, check out the main colas on these babies! .

I have Sweet tooth #3, Very Berry, and White Rhino (all crossed Wetback from memory). Not sure which will be best suited to the DWC SCROG I'm about to attempt. Any advice based on peoples past experience with these strains in a similar type grow is welcome.

howdy Tugboat,

mate your setup looks very good, practical, quiet. The only thing that concerns me is that the buckets are all connected in-line. No direct experience here but i have noticed guys running multi bucket DWC mostly plumb each bucket back to your main control res. i.e. say you have 4 buckets, you would have 4 individual lines running from your control res. to each bucket. lol You might also consider having a small pump running in your control res. to recirculate fresh nutrient via spagetti tube and dripper back into eack bucket. The only reason i mention these two things bro. is that i've heard it's very difficult to keep ph/ppm levels constant throughout the whole system with an inline plumbing system. Shit knows why, you would think that things would even themselves out but apparently not. Maybe one (or even two!) bucket/s with one control res. would be cool, don't know myself but will find out ;) .

Maybe others have experience running one or two buckets with a control res. - any variation in PH etc?

having individual lines back to the control bucket is how its done in the overgrow faq so naturally thats how most overgrowers do it. a pretty experienced bubbler grower here has said this is a waste of time, and one line branching off into buckets is fine. he will probably chime in if he sees this thread but I can't be sure, he's pretty gay you know. ;) lol

if you are doing recirculating system you got to be carful of the water flow encouraging the roots to grow into the line and blocking it. bubbler roots get pretty solid. a way I thought of overcoming this is putting a second airstone with a powerful air pump right next to the outlet which would keep the roots away, but I haven't tried this yet.

I can vouch for the fact that PH/nute levels do not balance between control bucket and plant buckets. at each check I would scoop up a few litres of water from the control bucket and pour it through the top of the netpots. this would help balance the system. you could setup a pump and drippers as you said to do this automatically.

Yeah I think 1 line for each row of buckets, like I got 6 buckets with 2 lines, If I ran 6 lines there would be bunches of problems, firstly, every extra hole you put in has a chance of leaking and also the lines will have to cross over at some point, or take alot of floorspace.

The only reason they have all those lines is because that system is an exact copy of the old aquafarm, which had seperate lines because it was designed to be movable so you could spread the buckets out from the control bucket in a circle or whatever postition you wanted.

I asked the question at overgrow "why do you have a line for every bucket?" the reply was that you can drain your buckets faster, thats bullshit.

If you dont go recirculating, the nutes and pH will still mix, they are still the same water, and you can guarentee it by lifting buckets up and letting them drain into the others.

lol So Whitecluster you run six buckets from two lines out of your control res yeah and no big variation in plant structure/size? I get ya' about these guys copying the Aquafarm, makes sense having separate lines if you want to move buckets around or out of a straight line setup. Can imagine their would also be more chance of leaks, more mess with buckets being plumbed individually. So man if you think individual plumbing/recirculating a multi bucket system is over the top in terms of practibility and ease of use then that's very cool because it makes things sooooo much simpler ;)
