seedling question

Recommended Posts

for the last 2 weeks I've had some seedlings growing from bagseed in small but reasonably sized pots, they've grown over the first week pretty quickly up to about 4-5cm , but this week I swear they have pretty much slowed down heaps in growth, I haven't noticed any growth at all however they still seem pretty healthy and I also gave them some fertilizer a couple of days ago thinking a lack of nutrients might have been the problem. They currently have 4 leaves including the 2 fake ones. How long does it take for more leaves to grow?

My cups are usually full of roots in just over a week from the water leaves opening and usually have only water, seedling and 1 set of 3-leaves. ;)

I also have 3 seeds popped this week - one each day for the last 3 days - Im just waiting for one more to show up. The first one to show is sitting at 1.5" and just growing its seedling leaves. Ill be putting pics in my indoor grow thread soon [the last atempt failed but I scored some new seeds - heh]. :)

Yeah weed grows like nothing on earth... Its root system, in ideal conditions and soil, will grow as large as the amount of plant above ground... And the taproot can get bloody long if you give it enough space... When you grow them in small pots the roots hit the edges of these pots and start to spiral around, searching for a way out... they eventually find the drainage holes, but there isn't any soil there, and roots can't survive long in such an environment... So yeah, potting up's the best thing you can do. Try using a little superthrive or similar b vitamin tonic to help with transplant shock, it's a pretty tough little species tho and will soon recover from even the most haphazard transplanting...

You'll get better growth and results with less stress tho... ;) And slightly quicker. :) Live and learn, eh? That's what this site is all about. :P

have you ever seen a tap root on a cannabis plant?? I tend not to believe it, obviously when young they do, but in my observations finished cannabis plants roots grow alot more outwards than downwards and have no dominant tap root.

To ease stress on plants do a double pot, but cannabis is a very hardy plant and doesnt need it so much.

Your tap-root grows longer than the plant and it branches at its tip like any other root would when its ready IMO.

I have a 1M long tap-root on my shrub which I have grown for 3 months now - I unwrapped it gently because I wanted to put it right down to the bottom of the hole straight away [saves re-growing it] - its tip is branched.

I wonder what the worlds longest MJ tap-root is - heh.
