surely any crop that is left to it's own devices, without; removing males, providing adequate nutrients, ensuring adequate light ensuring soil quality, etc will be a low THC crop (on average).

There would be a small ratio of plants that were high in THC, but by and large it would have been seedy, airy, crap (not to mention most people didn't manicure buds back then so would have een smoking leaf anyway).. Otherwise, why do we all spend so much time and money looking after our plants, we could just chuck seeds in in september and come back in may to perfect specimens.

There are plenty of places in Oz that has adequate nutrients, adequate light, rainfall, soil quality etc. where cannabis will thrive growing wild if people don't pull the plants out. The flood plains of the Hunter River being one of them.

Just because buds have seeds or havn't been manicured doesn't make them low THC.

Mainly because is sux having to get seed out of the buds when you mull up or having one you missed pop in the cone and most places that have adequate nutrients, adequate light, rainfall, soil quality etc. also have plenty of people living there too, forcing most growers to use more issolated places to grow often in less ideal environments.

I was not talking out of any documentation, but out of what i've lived. Been aware of this weed long before it was called " the Hunter Valley infestation " I've even heard it called " the Hunter Valley Invasion" I did read some article once recently that stated " hippies were loading up their kombies with it in 1963 ".The hippie sub-cullture did not even really kick off in America until 1967 at the so called " summer of love " let alone be in Australia in 1963. That was the first and last time I've ever bothered reading about it.

but I'm hearing ya Mongy, any links?

If you read the book marijuana australiana which goes into the huntervalley infestation.. you learn that it was not just the hunter region that was subjected to these outbreaks..

some outbreaks were as far north as queensland.. including the sunshine coast hinterland

Cannabis sativa.. not so much cannabis indica has the profound ability to support it's growth in wild infestations. This is because the seeds drop from cannabis sativa when it reaches peak maturity. Cannabis indica the seeds tend to stick to the calax material right after the plants reach maturity, which means the plants will be suporting seeds that be rotting as stalks in an upright position

when they rot in an upright position the seeds don't have the chance to be preserved. Indica plants tend to go into flower early which means when the buds are rotting with the mature seeds they don't get the opportunity to germinate. Depending on the location in most instances in australia, when sativa plants reach the end of their maturity and the seeds have the opportunity to drop to the ground, the temperature is alot cooler as it is well into autumn. This means that the seeds will be preserved over the winter peroid and germinate in spring, rather then rotting in the temperate heat.

High rainfall,, good soil conditions and pure landrace sativa.. you got a good opportunity to grow wild plots. Not much reason too unless your into hashish production and your growing really large amounts of weed. Pretty stupid really if the police come into contact with it.. they will count every single plant.. weigh the plants and not take into consideration that it is shit weed. When plants cross breed without taking into consideration favourable plants.. they will not necessarily be very high yeilding or particularily potent. In lebanon and morrocco where cannabis is more or less the way some people survive over there they grow wild cannabis and sow and turn over the soil and throw seeds around to sustain more plants.. alot of the seeds drop though and "grow wild"
