Why would you want a lowbay? Isn't that a kind of hid with a joined reflector and ballast? :P

You'd be better off with a separate one wouldn't ya? Or am I just too wasted and tired after my siesta...? *yawns* Anyway, you don't even really need a reflector in that kinda space, the lamp isn't going to be moving much... Considered that?

And I think a 600w would be waaay overkil for a 90x40 room. lol

I could do a better job of the site in my sleep. :P

Well looking at your grow pics maybe you should spend a bit more time trying to polish up on your growing skills and less time building web pages in your sleep lol.

Mate give him a call, that page is over 12 months old and he does'nt want to update it, so im sure his prices have dropped a fair ammount........

P.S., your gonna look a bit funny carrying all manor of lighting equiptment on the train !!!!

Yeah it sucks to only have public transport - I will growl at anyone who looks at my light. lol

Luke, youve made me ponder not using a reflector in my totally flat-white cupboard - reflector size isnt as important then and the fan will extract the heat directly from the bulb with no reflector in its way! Ill keep this in mind when buying my light kit. Yes Lobay means everything in one shade and you can bolt ducting to them easilly - I should have said 'horizontal shade kit you can bolt ducting to' not Lobay. :P

BTW my grow is good when you consider Ive only spent about $150 on it - 1M and budding profusely [the survivor anyway - heh]! I only killed my grow because I have no money to spend on proper equipment for indoors its not lack of green thumb. An HID should be drying my medium out but its not so I get gnats - I cant complain. ;)

What medium you using Wilderbud ? Is it an outdoor grow with gnats or indoor ?

Im only having problems with peat indoors - Ive got a few seedlings outdoors waiting to come in when I get my wardrobe and medium sorted out.

Im a peat lover [nothing else grows fine-roots like peat] and it doesnt dry fast enough under flouros by itself. When I use perlite also everything is good 1:1 is great and gnats dont go near it as it dries within reasonable time. I didnt know about gnats at all in July [i used expanded clay indoors before this so had no problems] but have now realized theyll infest my peat if it stays moist for 3 days. Perlite fixed the plant thats now 1M - I know how to grow but its hard to do things on a tight budget.

I recently put some good seeds in peat+vermiculite thinking vermiculite was just like perlite [good for drainage] but screwed up because its a moisture holding medium instead - doh! I couldnt get into a hydro shop to buy perlite then so used something I had no experience with. I should have asked about vermiculite on here as Id neve used it but I didnt as the packet said it was good for drainage.

My plan is to use 1:1 peat:perlite for seeds and clones as its the best medium for this job IMHO. When I want to flower the plants they will be put into my expanded clay filled flood and drain setup. I have great experiences with these mediums so Im using them until I get into NFT [rockwool and water only - not for the faint-hearted supposedly]. My flower chamber now has good aeration but I still need fans for clone and mother chambers [plus new CFs since the storm blew my other ones up]

PS. I have no problems with straight peat outdoors - I may actually have gnats outside but they arent a problem there - Ive never seen a gnat until recently [i tried to ignore them but they didnt go away - lol]. They dont really destroy the plant but they do destroy the soil [they make it go sour - smelly and 'stagnant']. Perlite fixes me and so would an HID - Im getting perlite next week and Ill see if I can get my dole loan for the HID then too.

PS2. I like heads and havent grown a plant without tipping it so Im probably going to grow without cutting for a while to see what Im missing. Ive seen the results of your ScrOG and think you do a better job than most people but Im more interested than growing vertically for now. I will be trying supercropping again later on so may never grow using a screen [i think screen is for vertically challenged grow-spaces and I dont mind growing past 1M]. :P

No I havent and probably wont - Ill get over the gnats with perlite as it works.

I did try rockwool ages ago and think its good by itself but I want to flower in expanded clay and rockwool isnt good when you want to transfer into this medium IMO [possible but Id rather not learn how its done]. The reason Im using peat/perlite then expanded clay is I have experience with them and it was all good [if you discount the gnat disasters]. lol

Peat will give me excellent roots and expanded clay will give me excellent nutrient uptake IMHO. Perlite will allow the peat to dry out within a day and peat+perlite is easilly washed off the roots. It should all work nicely - youll see when I do it [my indoor thread will cover it]. I grew my first good indoor plants using jiffy pots and expanded clay although they turned out to be hemmies [i screwed up with rockwool just before this and fell in love with peat].

Different strokes for different folks. :P
