A bubbler question

Recommended Posts

paint the walls white for better reflection to the plants....??

Remember to use flat white paint, not the glossy stuff.

Or you could buy some panda plastic (you know the stuff thats white one side & black the other) You will find this would help stop the light escaping & being wasted, and focus more on your plants. Just anothe suggestion

I'll explain the sich a bit better. just let me have a cone first ;)

I had 6 plants in a 4" PVC setup, It was nothing but an expierment to see if i could get anything to grow. 2 weeks later i had mullys a foot high and relized that the 4" pvc system is way to small to flower the plants in letalone grow em any bigger than a foot, soooooo I built another bubbler out of 50L plastic containers and made a wooden top and cut pot holes and theres a air stone in each one (is that enough air). I'm using the same nute and water thats in the other setup. I already had one of these bubblers going for another plant i had and it seemed to be going really well. the roots were about 1 foot long and very white.

Now that plant has bloody root rot. I cant figure out why only now it has done this. It's been in that bubbler for 2 weeks and it was fine. Only difference is, the plant next to it was a cabbige and i pulled it out and planted another mully in next to it. I really dunno. 2 days ago there were fine, now there not happy at all.

other things.

there leafs are still curled up around the edges. (they have been like this for weeks now)

and the bottom leaves on most of my plants have nute burn... i think..( the leaves are like a yellow/rusty orange color)

Anyway, I hope what i've said makes sence, I'm so smashed atm.

And thx for all the replys guys! I'm slowly getting there.

A quick one about the black/white plastic stuff.

I'm using some atm in my flowering cupboard and i thought after putting it up that the cupboard would be brighter. I can;t tell any difference at all with regard to more light being reflected, is this stuff the best? i've been told it is....... How does just painting a wall white go? and can u tell me the right paint to use.

THX GUYS & GURLS!

Just a few questions for you

1) What ph are you running your bubblers at ? 5.2- 5.5 is the go.

2) What strength are your nutes in your bubbler ?( you should only run at about 1/3- 1/2 strength no more )

3) Are you using epsom salts ? ( this will stop the boating of the leaves ) If not start by using 1/4 tsp per 10 litres, dissolve it in hot water first.

4) I once had my bubbler set up with a wooden lid like yours, i found the tannin in the wood leeched into the res and the plants didnt like it, you can allways line the bottom of the wood with some sort of thick plastic, but if i was you i'd source some proper lids for those bins, hydro shops usually stock them, make sure they are black.

5) You really have to light proof those bubbler tubs, roots will turn brown and slimy if light is a constant problem, there's 2 links to help you out at the bottom of the post.

The pic is of some happy plants in a bubbler, the lid was white/transparent so i lined it with those sun protectors you get from the cheap shop, cost $2 each ;)

The ph is around 7. I will lower it right now.

I am mixing the nutes a bit over half strengh, I started mixing them full when these plants were only seedlings. They lived though it for the first 2 weeks, Grew like mad, then i started seeing problems. This weekend i'll change the water/nutes over and make sure the Ph is 5.5 and i'll mix the nutes in pretty weak.

Please explain the salts a little more. What the hell are Epsom salts? And if u wouldnt mind explaing (cuz i cant find any infomation anywhere on it) why are my plants leaves droppy? and and and everyday at about 16 hours into the light cycle, the plants always go droppy... is that normal cuz they have just had 16 hours of continuous light and theve had enough for the day or is this another problem i've got?

and yes the roots are already turning brown so i gotta do something soon. I so hope i can find actual lids for these containers, that would be so much easier.

also those res's must be black...no light must penetrate the res...

Yeah, the only reason that I get away with a clear reservoir is that it is outside the grow room in a dark area.

Epson Salts can be bought from any Coles/Woolies, it's usally in the section where they sell shit like detol and bandaids, what it does is nutrelise the Magnesium deficency or somthing like that, they love it, "Do NOT eat Epon Salts" They are used as a laxetive ;)

Im only guessing here but maybe the droopy leaf symptom could be due to bad ventilation in your grow space, are you getting fresh air into your area from outside ? Sounds to me like the girls are using up all the CO2 over the 16 hour light on period, try hooking up a fan to get some air into there.

:Mr Putard, that scrog pic was from my second ever grow and it was the first scrog attempt, im on my 4th scrog grow atm, but none after that one have ever looked as good, and i really think it has got to do with genetics, they were NL#5, i ended up with 6oz of fat dense buds for my trouble, unfortunately i never cloned from them and havnt had the $$ to get similar genetics.
