Funny topic this, and I gotta agree with both sides to some extent, if it wasnt for the commercial growers I would be without smoke most of the time (thats changing now, but I havnt been in a position to grow for the last 5 yrs). But when I grow I rather sacrifice some weight for quality and flavour, rather than get the biggest possible yield.

 

I also have to say that not all cash croppers do the dirty, I used to buy (going back 5 or 6 yrs) from a couple of growers who took great pride in the quality of there product, even though they where in it for the money they also knew that quality product means loyal customers. They may not be typical (fairly small scale for commercial growers, pulling about a lb per month) but its also not that uncommon in my experience.

my point is that not everyone who wants good weight from their grow is just a money hungry bastard out to bleed you, its just pure sense, if you can harvest 20% extra from one strain over another and still get good smoke from it then why not? just cos a strain yields well doesnt mean its crap, and just cos someone grows to make money off it doesnt mean they dont care about quality.

Ok so there is always the ones who dont give a shit and will grow/sell any old shit to make a buck, you also have pricks who do things like spray buds with shit(like fly spray for eg.) to add weight.

My personal hate is pgr's, I have yet have any decent smoke that has used a PGR, to sacrific all flavour and a lot of potency for an extra 15-25% in weight seems criminal to me, especially as people seem to use them most on strains that yield well anyway and dont really need it.

 

anyway enough of my bitching, cashcrop strains aint bad its what you do with em.

I think the problem most have is the use of the term "cash cropper". It's fair to assume that the only intention here is to grow as much pot as possible in the shortest possible time simply for the money. These (cashcroppers) are the same people who religiously use pgr's and other chemicals you would never use on your lawn never loan something you intend to smoke. Then on top of that, sell it un-cured and wet more often than not. The same growers who give all growers, including personal growers, a bad image in the eyes of the community.

 

I hear what you are saying about not all commercial growers fitting this catagory THC such as the ones you used to buy from but growers like them don't make posts titled "wanted cashcropper! Any one got any ideas!, Massive yielder in shortest time wanted" Notice no mention of smoko quality. I'm guessing thats because it's not all that important. So long as it's smokable someone will buy it won't they and the $ are made.

 

Like Cyclone said, this forum has been put in place and built for fellow Australian's and the global community of smokers who want to grow good home grown bud for them and their friends instead of smoking Commercially grown (Cash croppers) garbage. I think anyone who starts a thread like this one has to expect that there are people who don't like what they are about.

I agree not all cash croppers are bad. But this forum has nothing to do with making money, or making bud to sell.

 

Sure I can get pretty decent bud from cash croppers, but after seeing some of the stuff on this forums, there is no way they put much effort into growing.

From what I have seen here, a bit of care and time and you can get an awsome crop.

 

And again, I have more shit bud than good bud these days. and all dealers in sydney have a very inconsistant supply of good bud. there is only one way around this hehe

Without "cash croppers " , a lot of people would have nothing to smoke !!! And , why shouldnt someone make some cash when they take the risk of growing ?? Nutes , mediums , pots , electricity all cost money , or should we all just give it away for free so others that are too lazy , or too scared to grow can have it for free? Something to think about

Sorry I am not trying to be a cunt ,but anyone who vegges a plant for 2.2 months and flowers it for over 6 weeks and only gets 8 ounces is doing something terribly wrong.OZCO red-devil skunk is a "CASHCROPPER "if grown properly,WHITE RHINO,most BB crosses and SWEETOOTH#3 all fall into the "CASHCROPPING" arena......Often people on this site are so self-rightous that they cause me to piss my pants laughing.The people who took offence when you mentioned "CASHCROPPER" are the same people growing dope illegaly,sharing often unhelpfull growing advice and blah blah blah...Fucking mindless soap-box wannabes..You find your CASHCROPPING strain man,and go large ,...all the best..

I had a discussion with my neighbour yesterday that led to him telling me about his "essential oil" production plant; "essential oil" plant being his 25 litre still.

 

It seems he is unaware how badly he would get reamed by the ATO for evading the excise on the alcohol.

 

It's amazing how brewing alcohol illegally is socially acceptable and normally attracts a "fuck the gubberment" type of response; but growing MJ which (within reason) will attract a much lighter penalty, will make you as popular as syphilis.

 

I trust those on their soapbox aren't selling their mates or family any fruits of their labour.
