What can I/We do to help legalize cannabis in Australia?

Recommended Posts

Amazing essay Jojo! You make some very good points. In the US we have some very good Med Pot spokespeople.

Montel Williams has come out more than anyone as he uses it for his MS, and he is living proof that it works.

Bill Maher is another good example, but more from a political viewpoint. The world does need more ppl like this.

Speaking for Baby Boomers, well, we've been trying since the late '60's to get pot at least decriminalized, and as we age we are making some progress with the medicinal issue.

Next summer I will be growing my own tobacco, I have some turkish seed, and I plan to give it a go, growing mainly for seed the first year. So if anyone is interested in growing tobacco, keep that in mind.

I don't believe any plant should be made illegal, and I agree 100% that I should be able to grow anything I need on my own land. And I do.

Well anyway, you get a gold star for that one!

I think that if Cannabis users would start becoming members of political parties (not just one pot smoker, but massively) and start to attend local meetings where they address this issue it will do two things, first it will make politicians aware that many of their voters use cannabis, and second it will bring the debate into their own ranks. It will give cannabis use a human face, instead of the "boogieman" which it is now.

We already are to a degree ferre, but the problem is we don't want to admit it. Ask a substantial proportion of the high flyers (no pun intended) in our society whether they've used drugs in the past and most will readily admit to using something in their past, usually as a younger person.

Wouldn't hurt the movement to have an advertising campaign along the lines of;

"This man became prime minister/treasurer/ceo of large corporation/senior beaurocrat/doctor/lawyer (take your pick of professional) and smoked pot as a young person. If it really makes you useless and apathetic, and ruins your life, how come they made it so far?"

You don't need to be a politician to be a member of a political party - you can help shape their policies from within, improve other members' understanding of the issue etc. I'm a member of the Greens for this very purpose, and they are an excellent party to be in if you are interested in participatory democracy and actually influencing the party from within, the other parties make it very difficult for grass roots members to have any influence on policy.

Yeah that sounds interesting. Maybe I'll join the young libs for the good piss-ups, then again i could join the greens for the good hook-ups....geez politics is confusing.

We sue the Goverment

A class action should be started to stop the forced association with hard drugs

I had an addiction to hard drugs 15 years ago and wish not to return to it.

I am now being forced to move to harder Drugs and this something I really don't want to do.

The shortage of marijuana in Perth is now the worst it has ever been.

I want marijuana available the same as alcohol so I don't have to associate with hard drug dealers. When people get marijuana from them they give free samples of the hard drugs that's how I became an addict and all my friends.

This is why I believe the government is the sole cause of drug problems in Australia.

Please help save our children I speak from experience

Regard Scott

PS God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so." And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Gen. 1:29-31)

Marijuana Is an Herb not a Drug.

Personally i wouldnt want any government body or group of companies dictating what type and grade of pot we all smoke ??, i think societies war on pot will continue for decades ..the thing thats always seemed so obviously ridiculous is that pot has the abilitie to heal the planet and its people in so many ways as most of you know ..The best bio degradable fuel , the best paper , high source of omega3 those three alone saves wars trees and people from starving ... Its fucked that we have to be channeled through some poli approved black hole to get our basic god given rights to use weed .. the bigger picture here is that the world needs to start seeing this plant for what it truely is and not the evil weed its portrayed as ..It really is the holy weed and it can cure all our planets problems !! :(
