Internet addicts starve children

A COUPLE US authorities say were so obsessed with the internet and video games that they left their babies starving and suffering other health problems have pleaded guilty to child neglect.

 

The children of Michael and Iana Straw, a 22-month-old boy and an 11-month-old girl, were severely malnourished and near death last month when doctors saw them after social workers took them to a hospital, authorities said.

 

Both children are doing well and gaining weight in foster care, prosecutor Kelli Ann Viloria told the Reno Gazette-Journal on Sunday.

Hey... umm.... WTF IS GOING ON!

 

Addicted to games? Addicted to internet? Ok, ok, before those authoritarian types out there begin getting their bits all wet about something new to ban... lets figure this one out.

 

This is a world wide problem, its been around for a while now and there are doctors out there who do specialise in video game addiction. The question is, what will happen when we begin designing easily accessible virtual reality games, which lets be honest here... isn't too far away- they have already released ultra basic versions. Are psychedelics or borderline mind altering substances going to even matter soon?

 

... have we created a monster? have we created our very own... SUPER DRUG?

 

As cannabis slowly becomes increasingly accessible for medical users, will the matter not even be cared about soon? Will politicians joke about the 3 weeks they once spent as a teenager exploring the virtual internet playing prolonged hours of virtual manhunt and their nights in 'live virtual sex!'
