easiest system to use?

Recommended Posts

If you are using coco as ya medium you can hand water it, just make up the nutes in a watering can every time u need to feed the plants.

Doing above you dont need to have pumps heaters air stones and all the other stuff needed to setup a watering system because all you will need to do is fill ya watering can add nutes and adjust ph feed plants and u are done.

One of the good things about coco it dosent need to be watered as much as it holds a lot of water.

im a coco grower, well to be honest im trying to move away from the stuff, but i know for a fact that you must keep an eye on the pH, EC, etc. as the coco wont grow the plant for you itself :)

which meters shud i get as in PH and ec or is there one combnied? what brand is good?

combined pens are great, as for a brand i think bluelabs has the best ones, im not sure :toke:

also which nutes? dutch master?

i personally loved the DM coco nutrients, i got fantastic results with them :freak: but then again i have also had great results with canadian xpress and GT coco nutrients as well :peace: just make sure the nutes you buy are coco specific and you'll be sweet :peace:

Hey mr m, never used coco my self but plenty of other ppl have.

With the testing pens u get what u pay for, as wdc said the bluelabs is one of the best but they arnt cheap, i payed $110 for the ppm meter.

You can get cheaper Ph and TDS meters off ebay that will do the trick for ya and you can get them pretty cheap...

The way i set up my power is i run the ballast and venting fan from one power point and every thing from from another, i try and not draw too much power from one power point, weather it matters or not i dont know i just feel safer have it from 2 power points instead of just the one.

Thats a good idea oz.

Each standard power point is good for 10 amps of current or 2400 watts of power. You should have a nameplate on the side of any electrical appliance telling you the current and or wattage of the item. If you add up the wattages of all the items in one power point and it comes to less than 2400 watts then you are sweet.

Each power circuit is usually good for 20 to 25 amps or 4800 to 6000 watts, so if you split you appliances up over different power points you've got a fair bit to play with.

If you want to convert current to power or vise versa, you can use this formula.

P

____

I V

P= Power in Watts

I= Current in Amps

V= Voltage in volts(240 in Australia)

This is what the calculation would look like for a fan that had a rated running current of 3 amps.

P = I*V

P= 3*240

P= 720 watts.

Or in reverse if your fan was rated at 720 watts

I = P/V

I = 720/240

I = 3 amps

Sorry if I've rambled or baffled youse, I came here looking for info on indoor mediums and got sidetracked.

Best of luck.

Also, could i have a 400w HPS light and all the stuff for a satellite system, air pump,

water heater and fans connected to 1 power point with power board(s) or is it better to use 2???? What do you guys do?

I run from a single point and never had or expect to have problems, just make sure it's a good power board.. no $3 cheapies.. a 400w system (incl pumps, fans etc) is not a big current draw.. much less than a clothes dryer or fan heater.

And i might get a MH 250w for veg stage and flower with a 400w HPS, is it good 2 use a MH light in a HPS ballast? Is 400w MH to striong for veg, since people are using fluros?

400w MH is not 'too strong' for veg, as such, but the plants will veg more quickly than you will be ready for them under that much light.

The grow shop has MH bulbs that go in HPS ballast but some 1 from here that knows about electrical stuff said not 2 do that?

It is OK to use MH bulbs that have been designed for use with HPS ballasts.. but don't use a regular MH bulb.
