Crispy Buds why ?

Recommended Posts

G'day all hope you can help? my buds are full and firm picked at the right moment hung up to dry naturally then they become sparse and crispy ,and then get labeled fluffy buds dont get me wrong the gear gets you off your face day in day out all day every day [lucky} i use good globes change them every 2 to 3 crops depending on brand good nutes, different brands i also use additives at the right times max fx ,foliar sprays ,pottash etc kept up the nutes thru out the cycles this crop is deffinately bigger firmer than the last more tricomes bucket loads off em they are right thru the buds even when dry when the gaps appear there is just so much of it , if you touch em the outer area of the buds just crumbles away and is left stuck to your fingers , bit of a hassle when you are trying to have a cone or two. we have good air flow with fresh air piped in all the time 24 7 it's the only way i can controll the smell, has happened with different strains [ mainly white strains i've had]

At the end of all that why arent they staying with that full look which seems to be important here , i could cheat and just spray em with water and roll them a bit to give em that tight look aswell i have never come accross this in my wheeling and dealings from other dealers guys in the hydro shops reckon you need co2 other growers not using the gas dont have this prob :scratchin:

cheers Sticky Fingers

hi sticky i had this problem with my first harvests was too impatient to dry properly.

its all in how you dry your weed hung dried is good but only until there dry on the outsides but moist in the centres, trimmed and then stored in a container to slow the drying process taking the lid on and off during the days to breath for 30min at a time.

once buds get that over dry feeling keep the lid sealed opening every second day when you tip out and have a look how your buds are going.

basicly a slow dry will give you more weight harder buds and no crispy bits that fall off.

heres a couple of pics first one after 3 weeks of drying slowly and second pick 7 weeks from harvest cured in pickle jars.

Before the first pic buds looked fluffy but got tighter and tighter as they cured.

Have a look around for a good guide to curing your harvest.
