Completely new to growing.

g'day; if ya wanna play with them as a beginner grower.....buy yourself a 20inch fluoro light fixture from Bunnings, buy 2 'gro-lux' or equivalent, fluoro tubes to fit.....buy bag of potting mix while your at Bunnings & a few small pots about 75mm across & 100mm deep(seedling starter pots are ideal).....put seeds into soil about 1-2cm below surface, plant seed sideways or pointed ended up (when seed sprouts it sends a shoot that immediately changes direction, if ya plant seed upside-down it can waste a lot of energy trying to emerge above soil surface)......place new pots with seed/soil etc under light(about 75mm from tubes, they wont burn them),after watering them......YOU DO NOT NEED ANY NUTRIENT ADDITIVES WITH FRESH GENERAL PURPOSE POTTING MIX.seedlings should emerge from surface from 16hrs to 10 days after sowing.

NOTE: you can grow a cannabis plant from seed to harvest with a small fluoro setup but you will not yield big harvests.(you can buy good quality 2nd-hand lighting at most 'reputable' hydro stores).

all plants produce different yield, some better than others.

don't stress about not knowing how to grow...it is a WEED, it will grow like a WEED if ya let it!

you will learn as you grow.

p.s;you can also read the "marijuana Botany" which is posted in a forum somewhere here.....(ignore the technical stuff for now).

I don't really have any proper seeds, just some ones that a friend and I have collected over the past few months (which we have picked out of our pot). Do these stand a chance at growing?

Depending on the age of the seeds, weather they will grow or not the older the seed the harder it can be to get it to grow, some older seeds will grow but most wont.

If the seeds you have been collected out of pot over the last few months they should be good and they should grow, best way to find out is plant them ans wait and see what happens but the odds are you will end up with some plants...

I won't be able to start growing until after November 13th, I just thought it would be a good idea to get my facts straight, and maybe try and plant a practice plant. Thank you all so much for your help and advice, rest assured I really appreciate it! Any ideas on a place I could try and grow (aside from my house) as a practice? Or is it waaaay too risky. hey there wonderboy

welcome aboard and good to see ya not rushin in do ya homework first and then start

i would say go ya bagseed first and if ya can get a 400w then that would be the best if ya can only afford a 250w then get that and you can use it for a few grows then buy a 400w

start in soil as you wont need as much nutes and anything else we can usually help ya with along the way just pop ya beans and start a grow dairy

cheerz and good luck :Dj:

I was talking to my aunty, and she was telling me that she's found that people who grow at home have far less potent weed than the 'commercially' produced stuff that people are peddling around. I think this is bullshit, and that the plant just needs the proper care. Anyone able to confirm that?
