Whats the best NPK rate ?

Recommended Posts

There is no "best" rate, and usually NPK rates can be a little confusing as 20:20:20 is the same as 10:10:10, so it can be a little hard to differentiate.

In the end, just get something which has a relatively high N level compared to P and K in vegetative growth, (early in the season) and then add something with a higher P and K ratio and less N in the beginning of the flowering season.

Most organic fertilisers are suitable, but one great amendment for any plant which requires a large amound of P and K like MJ can, is Potash in the form of powder. You can usually find this at most garden centers in bags. Just a fistful per plant spread around the drip line of the plant as it begins to come into flowering season (mid-late summer) should provide a good source of soluble potash for the plant to enjoy and give good results.

You can also consider fertilising with a liquid soluble fert, but this would only need to be done at half strength (of a standard hydroponic nute, use normal packet directions for soil nutrients like Thrive :yahoo: and similar) about once a week or so.

Use good quality soil improvers and perhaps some dynamic lifter early in the season, maybe a handful of blood and bone if you like.

Hope that helps. :xcited:
