Hey..I'm gonna grow in a unused downstairs bathroom..aproximate area 3ft. by 5ft. I have an exhaust fan..have another fan for circulation..got it set up on a timer..I have 4 one gallon pots under a 150 watt high pressure Sodium light..Is this light source sufficient?

Not a very big light, with a room of that size. You could utilise a lamp like a 600w or two 400w in that space. It depends on how much of it is usuable area though, but yeah, a 150w is a small HPS unit. It would work well for seedling development though.

 

Are you in Oz or the US?

I say grow with it and judge for yourself. I'd guess that light might produce about 2-3 ounces of bud every 2-3 months as a rough guess.

I would start off with thw 150w then switch to a 600w in a few weeks, if the 600w is out of your budget for now then I would pile in as many compact fluorescents as I could manage as that 150w is going to be struggling to cover the floorspace you will be using after a few weeks.

yeah thats good advice. can you buy HPS lights with remote ballasts in America? cause if you can this is definitely the way to go.

 

if you don't want to add more light you would probably benefit by creating a smaller grow area in that room for that light, with the walls being lined with mylar or flat white paint. The yield will still be small, but you'll get a little more efficiency out of that light.
