UBENHADD,good on ya the 600 will do ur 4x4 area perfect just use a chinamans hat to spread the light evenly a 600 in a horizontal shade will only cover 3x3 with decent amount of light :peace:

2 x 600 watters don't put out as much heat as a 1000w - I use 2 x 600w HPS in a single large air cooled & sealed shade/reflector. The air is drawn directly from outside of the GR and exhausted outside the GR (keep the inlets & exhaust away from one another).
what a load of bull shit bro :peace: i find my 600 putting out atlease 60-80% of the heat my 1000 did x2 600's would be alot hotter than a single 1000 u have x2 bulbs x2 shades x2 control box all this heats up how can u compair this?

the ballasts should be outside the grow room so the heat from them shouldn't be of much concern.

In terms of heat from the bulbs its a question of efficiency. 2 600W bulbs is 1200watts. So if the 600w bulbs were only 20% more efficient than the 1000watt, they would produce the same or less amount of heat, and most certainly more light. I haven't done any research on this but consider it unlikely a 600 is 20% more efficient than a 1000. Therefore its likely two 600's would give off more overall heat than a 1000 but with more light as well. Watt for watt the 600 is the most efficient bulb in terms of output of lumens.

Having 2 600W instead of 1000 would also give you more versatility, you could make your grow area larger and I think you'd get a lot better yield from two 600W bulbs spread apart than one 1000watter. You could split your flower room into two areas if you want to grow two strains at the same time that don't grow well together. Or in summer if it gets too hot to control the heat of both bulbs you could just run one.
