Back and ready to grow again

Recommended Posts

ok, done a little more work and at the moment my plan is as follows....

build a 2mx2mx2m frame out of wood (panels). then with a staple gun, attach mylar/panda film to the sides and back of the frames and one side of the front frame, so i can make a door. lights will hang from top of frame on chains to raise/lower with ease. i will add 2 bits of wood on each corner for exhaust fans.

OR

build the frame and just add that plywood light to it, so it is then a solid box and just paint them flat white.

money is the problem with this grow.

any ideas or advice?

thanks,

Kel.

If the budget is limited go with the flat white, you may need to line the joins and corners with a little panda or something to light seal them.

The old cabinet is only 1.8(h) x 1.2(w) x 0.5(d) and it just fits one tub. So i was thinking just two vegging until the new one is up and running and maybe put them into the new cabinet, so i have all plants on veg, only the two i put in will be around 3 weeks into veg, would this be a problem?

I never thought of that, i recon they would be better off being all the same size. As far as i recall this is just for you so 8 plants is going to see you right, maybe you could rig the new box to run fluros for veg, then HPS for flower.

Depending on how it's done you might be able to veg all 8 in the old box and transfer the orchid pots to the tubs in the new box so they have a bit more room to grow (but if you do that there might be a bit of a tight squeeze getting the roots in the holes in the tubs).

It's all starting to get complicated. :)

Considering how well you did last time you should be right whichever way you go.

ok everyone, i have figured it out today....

These are my dimensions;

3.2m LENGTH

2m HEIGHT

1.5m WIDTH

i measured it roughly to my previous grow where i got a good yeild from the same space, i have just added two more lights into it so i have 3 600W's and 6 plants.

should start putting it together tomorrow, bunnings awaits!

You'll do very well with 3x600w units, although yeah, ensure you have a good sized fan to cope. You'll need a fair sized carbon filter too, as that's a lot of lighting.... Keep in mind that your plans need to include maintenance room, space to get to all the plants bases etc...

You can also get these fangdangled things called panda zippers now, they're 2.2m lengths of panda film about 3-400mm wide. They've had a heavy duty zip sown into it down the middle, and with a single zipper you have a very serviceable door which is light proof and convenient. :) Two makes for a larger door with a central flap...

Anyway, I'd say you're best off keeping many more smaller plants in more individualised containers, vegging out in the cabinet only means you can keep many more plants in there, so take advantage and have 9 small bubblers which allow the plants to be transplanted into their large tubs once your new room is ready. You may have to train or tip them a bit to keep em under control later on, but you'll have a 3 week old vegging set of plants ready to either flower or veg for longer inside a much larger room. :(

Hope that helps, and good to see ya round KellyJ, sorry to hear about your Mum... :P

Will be watching and waiting to see this grow going. ;)

bills, bills, and more bills, not good, but i have figured the best way to do it.

i'm going to set up my old cabinet, DWC, 400W, two plants. let them veg and while they are vegging, going to make another cabinet 2m(high) x 1.10m(length) x 1.10m(depth).

I am eventually going to have three of these cabinets with 600W in each.

On my budget at the moment, this would be alot better, as i am always growing and saving for lights, tubs, etc for new room. Once all three are operational, i'll be set!

got a 1000W mh light yesterday from a friend for $110. just the ballast and globe, no shade.

was planning on growing 2 plants under scrog method in DWC. going to veg them for awhile untill all is good with the scrog net. the dimensions are 1.2m(length) x 1.2m(depth) x 2m(height). two 250mm exhaust fan's on each side of the cabinet. four 15cm blowing fans inside and one 250mm intake fan to blow fresh air in from the side. panda film for the sides. roof/door will be wood (painted flat white).

any suggestions or advice?

thanks,

kel.
