Making a bong out of a beer bottle.

Recommended Posts

First i got 5 x 7mm diamond tipped, glass cutting drill bits off egay from China for $4.99. I would recommend a closer bit size to the stem you are using to save shaving the hole bigger... now i know :bongon:

Grab your drill. Mines just a $99 Makita hammer drill from Bunnings. ;)

Next i held the bottle under a running tap, and started drilling away

In no time at all i had a little circular groove...

Ok, so far so good...

Oh you sonofa*^%^@#*^%#&$(&$(&$(#@%$@*%)^

Cough :toke:

So i grabs another bottle (plenty where that came from) and with a little more patience and care i got to this...

It still needs a couple of mm shaved i think but i have no stem with me at the moment to size up the hole properly. So i'll finish it off tonight and you can see the working product tomorrow.

Not bad for $5 eh, and i've only broken one bottle and used one bit (still good too).

So... i had a new stem lying around with no grommet... but it was a little long so i retired the porcelain penguin...

Shaving the hole larger once it is there is actually quite easy. Having the 7mm bit will also allow me to make a "shotty" hole.

Presenting prorotype #1.......

A drill press or a vice or something would definately be handy, i've cracked a few bottles so far :peace:.

Anyway, i picked up a few bonza stems, grommets and medium bonza cone pieces from joynt venture. I also got some of those clear papers (awsome!) and a bonza glass stem/cone to try for myself :peace:

Fresh off the production line, complete with shotty, the VBong! V1.2

Note: Shotty in first pic.

Well... the Mrs had this soy sauce bottle at home that looked like it was just begging to be made into a widdle bong... :peace:

The glass turned out to be approx 5-7mm thick :devilred: This hole took about 45 minutes to bore out... gotta get me some bigger bits :faint:

7mm shotty, about 5-10 minutes... good thing with this bottle is it isnt going to simply crack like the thin glass of the beer bottles.

Complete with new stem. This stem is a tad long, one of the new ones i have for the beer bottles.

Took out the stumpy stem from the porcelain smiley face dude when i got home, looks much better and the fit is perfect :faint:
