Been indoor farming for years, big and small, but never had this before... Maybe someone can help? Our hydro meter all of a sudden started humming when we turn all 10 1000w HPS on. We've had the same setup for 3 years here, with no problems. The ballasts are in a professionally wired metal box, with breakers. The flip is pro too. All of a sudden the meter starts humming LOUD, can hear it from inside the house. When we turn some lights off, its quieter. The only thing that has changed was that the setup used to be in the basement, now its out in the shop. All the same equipment. When we first put it in the shop, it wasnt humming (or maybe we didnt notice it?). Any ideas? D…

Greeting Folks. First time grower and poster here. I need a little advice on how i can raise the temps of my intake air. The intake air gets as low as 50-55 degrees on some nights which i think might be too low and is causing some problems with my girls. my box is set up in a corner of my basements, the size is 4' x 3' x 7 feet tall. I have a 600watt hps with 175cfm 4" exahust fan. Unfourtinatly my house has no heat runs in the basement so it gets quite cold some nights. i did try a plug in heater inside but i dont think it was helping too much because all the fresh air coming in was so cold. for now im running the fan only when the lights are on and that keeps th…

Gday fellas, Well I'm about to embark on our first personal grow. Want to stick to the two plants, no hydro rule since I'm in WA. Basically we have a spare bathroom and want to put the pots in the bathtub and mount the lights on a PVC frame over the bathtub. Bathroom has a exhaust fan which I hope will be sufficient to keep the room cool enough. Anyway wanted to see what you guys thought about these lights and if two of these 250 watters would be sufficient over two plants in a bathtub? http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.com.au/m...k/prod_358.html Also if anyone had any tips as to pot size, potting media type and depth, fertilising regime etc that would be much app…

Ok this is going to be a long one. Here is some information about the basics of air. energy, and water vapor. I think it is important for people in our community to understand what they can and cannot do to control a grow room. Introduction If HVAC problems are to properly be diagnosed and designed, it is essential that the Psychometric chart and psychometrics in general be clearly understood. This will review the essential elements of psychometrics (the behavior of mixtures of air and water vapor under different conditions of heat) and the chart that represents it. With this knowledge you will be able to understand many of the HVAC challenges that are certain to ari…

Sup Oz Stoners! Ok so lets say I set a ceiling usage of 1000W per grow room - If I intend on doing 2 grow rooms - your standard Veg Room and Flower Room setup Obviously say another 60W for getting your clone on and a few hundred more here and there for other devices such as heating and cooling, with these total i don't see it as excessive really so no problems with the pigs - (I'll be waiting anyway ) Anyway so lets say I set myself a limit of 1000W for powerdrawn for lighting per room... Supposedly in ebay auctions a 150W CFL "grolamp" produces the equiv of 400W under a HPS bulb Let's say I get 6 of these 150W CFLs, for a total power draw of 900W, th…

gday folks! due to lack of space at home i was considering growing in my closet but after reading some posts on this forum it has looked like a very expensive and long procedure. Is it possible just to stick a pot plant under a lamp and see what happens? Or is there a simpler method? Ive been seeing a lot of talk about smell too is it really that strong? Just wondering as well if those seed banks are really worth sending money to being in melbourne? Thanks for your help

Not many people post anything on here about growing with LED Lights! Which is kind of dissappointing, I recently purchased the 90watt UFO LED Grow Light from the high times magazine, but only paying a fraction of the cost, thats ebay for you I was wondering if anyone has tested and confirmed whether or not these lights are worth the hassle? I would like to see pictures of anyone's grow that uses LED Lights, preferably the UFO LED Light. Also, does anyone know of a place where one could get a possible internship here in the United States with a medical marijuana dispensary? Or if there are any places in Canada or outside North America for that matter? Thank you. Tyl…

Is anyone using LED's? Can 90w + penetrate deep into the canopy during the flower cycle? Any experience or advice would be appreciated? I have recently designed a 300w LED panel. My design differs from others which use 280 1 watt LED's because it uses many more (smaller) LED's. I did this to get a larger footprint, realize a longer life (smaller LED's last 70k hrs vs 40k) and to integrate more wavelenths along the PAR curves. Heres the specs 48 in L x 19 in W and 5 in deep. [*]300w at 240v [*]8 red to 1 blue [*]435 & 485nm [*]635nm, 655nm & 665nm [*]8900 Lumens I contracted a manufacturer and have recieved the unit. I will be testing it agains…

looking at the following system for producing co2 http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/ca...tor-p-1889.html i can handle the extra heat and humidity (have dehumidifier and air conditioner) and ive been reading that propane is 6x more efficient than the tanks the guy ive been reading about has a room half the size as mine (10 x 12) and he uses 2 tanks a month.......thats too much work for me the propane is 20# for about15$ and i have a refill place close and extra tanks are 35$ compared to 150$ for co2 that being said...... until i get some extra cash can i use this system without the controller ? ill have the extra money after another grow i can estimate the amount ill…

Recently here in Montana, Medical Marijuana legislation bills have been passing left and right, and because of this, I was wondering if anyone in the area here would need a personal "caregiver"? I was also wondering if anyone knew of any businesses, such as Medical Marijuana Dispensaries anywhere that would be willing to allow internships there? I am majoring in horticulture sciences and am planning on using my knowledge and skill to grow Medical Marijuana for Medical Marijuana patients. If anyone is interested in some help, please let me know. Take Care God Bless Tyler

Hi everyone! This is my first post. Has anyone tried growing under the new LED lights? They come in large banks of red and blue bulbs (the only part of the spectrum plants need). Their advantages are supposed to be low heat emission, no noisy ballasts required and approx 80% cheaper to run (power-wise). Also, you need less height because they run cool and wont burn the plants and you also dont need an extractor fan because they dont give off a lot of heat. I'd like to know if they are as good as the ads say. Anyone with experience out there? Thanks.

im starting my first indoor hydro kit, and trying to built it on a budget, ive got a Hydroponics SON-T 400W HPS Grow light. and i was wondering if you can use a 400w power supply from a computer! ill be using it anyway, because im putting a couple of 120mm computer fans with pretty blue LEDS. the dimentions of the "room" is 1100 wide, 400 deep and 1750 high, would a 400w light be sufficiant, and would that light be good for veg and flower?? also can you make your own reflector out of a car sunvisor, like the reflective ones that dissapate heat.. any help would be great!!! Boof.

Hey folks. Quick one. I need to put my pots somewhere else for 24hrs which will result in them getting no light for that time period. I can't get out of it. They may also experience increased heat and little ventilation/fresh air during that time. My plants are still in veg and I wish for them to remain so for some time. Please tell me what the damage will be. I'm more concerned about stressing the plants and making potential hermies than anything else. Please reassure this paranoid stoner
