A man caught bringing a cannabis plant into a Brisbane court says he will fight drug charges as part of his long-running campaign to have marijuana legalised. Peter Till, 39, of Nimbin in northern NSW, appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court charged with possessing a dangerous drug. Security officers said they seized the 50cm-tall cannabis plant at a screening machine in the Brisbane Magistrates Court's entry foyer on Monday. Mr Till said the plant was "evidence" for a court appearance. After the plant was seized, he still faced court on drug charges stemming from his arrest in October last year for smoking a cannabis cigarette in the city's Queen Street Mall. Desp…

A new report titled "Where there's smoke - cannabis and mental health" has been released. It was featured (splashed) in our local rag yesterday for some lovely boxing day anticannabis diatribe, no doubt! The link to it is here - http://www.mhca.org.au/documents/MHCACannabisfinalLR.pdf Heads up to Niall, Jess and our other cruisaders. I haven't had chance to swallow it all yet. Found section one summary to negate the value of the whole study. Funny enough, another government funded study into a phony issue. Likely better entitled "Where there's smoke and mirrors - governent misappropiation of funds and propaganda." Onto some quotes from the document.. "Recent p…

Looks like some little snot in the Federal Government has decided its time make an example of harmless potsmokers again. I realise the Government singles out minority groups to walk all over but this is going to hurt them in the next election. Over half of the population have smoked Cannabis at some point in their lives or still do and we all know the draconian prohibitionist laws originally made to destroy the hemp industry are a croc. What is the point in going after water pipes? For crying out loud I can make one out of an orchy bottle and a few inches of garden hose. Trying to prevent the sale of bongs will only leave us with more money in our pockets to buy pot. Th…

Tough drug laws hidden away DESPITE Premier Mike Rann's tough talk to stamp out "evil" drug lords who use children as traffickers, his Government has failed to commence new laws targeting drug dealing activities. The laws were passed exactly one-year ago, creating more severe penalties for drug dealers but the Government has stopped them from becoming operational. Drug dealers who sell, supply or administer drugs to children should be facing maximum penalties of life imprisonment and, or, a $1 million fine. But the State Government, which promised to commence the law this year, has stalled its introduction while bureaucratic red-tape holds up other tough new drug la…

Was anyone able to pick up the latest Independent Weekly - it featured a large, healthy shade leaf and a headline to the effect that Adelaide is the marijuana capital of Australia or some such. I suspect it's a stupid sensationist article designed to pull in the weekend readership (ooh, vice!) but maybe I'm being too hard on the paper - it used to be a fairly bright paper. If anyone could post a scan I'd appreciate it or I'll look for it at the library and post it myself here. If Adelaide is the marijuana capital of Australia why do I never bump into other smokers - it's crazy!

Any one seen the ads on Ch9 for WEEDS starting Tues 5th Dec ? Theres nothing on 9MSN about it however I've seen quite a few ads so far( during Letterman Monday morning 3:00am 27-11-06) ,theres a bit on the net WEEDS TV Show ,from memory the show does not portray cannabis in a negative way,its just by-the-way dope sales as they go about there lives.A single mum I believe this could be interesting in view of the current "Reefer Madness" hysteria in OZ at the moment. As you can imagine its cable only in the US however so is the Sopranos&the Simpsons and we get those uncensored, the US audiences would never get this sort of stuff free-to-air ,remember the Janet Jacko BS…

HERALD SUN A MEDICAL marijuana user plans to see in the New Year on an all-time high - by rolling the world's biggest joint. Los Angeles resident Brett Stone said he plans to usher in 2007 by building a 910 cm cigarette using around 112 grams of marijuana. Mr Stone said he was inspired to try for a record after learning that the previous biggest joint was made with 100 grams. "I thought the world's largest joint would have been a lot larger," said Mr Stone, 48, who runs the medical marijuana website dabronxnews.com. Medical marijuana use has been legal in California since 1996, when voters passed a law allowing the drug to be used as a pain reliever. Mr St…
