  1. excellent! haha definitely not letting her get away so easily. i cut off the buds, i was actually super surprised how much was in there. i've strung the buds on some thread and they're hanging up in a cool dark place. because she's so small i thought i'd try cloning a few different parts, so i basically have some leaf stalks, a part of the stem and i thought i'd try a part that had a little bit of bud still on it. with the stalk bit i actually cut off the tip top of the plant and then from the top trimmed the buds off then cut the stalk off. i have a feeling that if none of them root, this one will be the one that does. i'm really nervous and excited. hopefully just another couple of weeks till i have completed my first ever grow couldn't have done it without everyones help
  2. i am keen to do some cloning now we're in spring and to harvest because its been torturous watching her grow and not being able to smoke her. but in theory i could leave her to grow and make use of the longer days that will be coming and reveg for a while and then she will go back to flowering later and she will just pick up where she left off? thanks so much for your responses, it means a lot
  3. this doesn't surprise me too much because of the light cycles i'd have to say probably 7-10 hours of light a day and even then there are some trees and such that get in the way of consistent direct sunlight for a half hour or so during the day they are probably a bit blurry, but thank you i definitely realise the lighting situation isn't ideal and i'm definitely considering getting a basic indoor lighting setup eventually but for now i'm just doing this as a spare time thing and i'm just worried about overshooting the harvest time. its like on one hand i'm not highly invested but on the other hand if she's giving me buds i still want them to be decent. what do you reckon? should i just keep waiting or get her trimmed and get started cloning?
  4. Hi all! i posted up back in April Sloppy, Lazy, Basic first time grow where i had for the first time actually started a planted. its been 6 months and i actually went back in that thread for an update every now and then. i've reached a point where my plant has definitely flowered but i'm not sure if i should harvest yet or not. so from the reading i've done i still can't decide if its ready or not. i haven't noticed much change for a couple of weeks. the main thing i've read is that when the pistils turn red/brown they're ready but i cannot identify the pistils and i'm worrying that i'm overshooting harvest time. are the pistils the little orange hairs we can see? they are certainly very dark orange and this is what i'm mostly worrying about as these have been visible for a while but not really changed shade. lastly i'm all about truth here, i won't lie, i have picked off the plant twice and smoked it yahwe and got a tiny high. obviously this probably isn't a good idea for many reasons but it doesn't seem to have killed anything. progress in the last 2-3 weeks has been very slow, i've been mostly blaming the light cycles, there has certainly been more darkness than light. please let me know what you think. i also wanted to cross my harvesting & cloning plans by you. when she's ready to harvest I plan on cutting off the flowers, leaving as much foliage as i can especially low down. then taking good looking nodes off, put into glass of water, apply cloning gel and putting into little mini cardboard pots with dirt in them to go into a mini greenhouse. i also want to cut the stalk of the plant taking the top and middle sections (both with a couple of leaves still on them, apply cloning gel and put into the same cardboard pots with dirt into the mini greenhouse. then i'm thinking of putting a bunch of Dynamic Lifter on the already rooted plant in the darth vader pot (also with a couple of leaves still on it) to try and get it vegetating again. tldr: does it look like i'm ready to harvest and what do you think of me cutting the stalk of the plant for cloning and trying to revegetate the base? love you all Edit: heres some more close ups
  5. hi yall! wanted to post an update on this grow! so first up i've been having some leaves going off colours at the bottom, i haven't been too worried because they're the bottom leaves and i figured early on that it might be frost but also later realised it might be a nutrient deficiency. a week or so ago i finally re-potted into this awesome darth vader pot. this will most likely be where it spends the rest of its life, unless you all highly recommend i do otherwise. when re-potting the soil i already had it in was fairly solid, dry dirt so i plonked it into darth vaders head and filled it in with potting mix. I also put some dynamic lifter in and gave it a big water. the pot has plenty of drainage holes as well as some rocks at the bottom. here is an up close photo, i have a feeling its going to be a boy, i think i can see some ball sacks but i'm not sure, what do you reckon or is it still too early? its now been around 4 months, its been pretty much getting at least 6-8 hours of direct light a day except for those cloudy days, its been watered lightly at least once or twice a week. it's been an absolute joy watching it grow, i think its such a cool looking plant.
  6. Oh no haha I did find a tiny lil spider on it today actually, maybe I'll bring them inside overnight
  7. I moved it out of the jar straight after my last post, it was glass and had no drainage, rookie mistake but it's still good, very long and thin like you said but alive. just gave a water, are there any tells of sex? its been cool seeing it grow and follow the sun
  8. hey thanks so much for your responses, it means a lot. it was hard to write this up without sounding like an arse, i am genuinely interested in the growing process, its fascinating and pretty amazing, its just not something i'm able to or prepared to get fully stuck into. i'll let him/her grow in my jar for another couple of weeks we reckon? then plant them in our new garden bed. i'll come back to this thread with updates
  9. hi all! i've been cruising the site for a long time since i started smoking, not posting much but glad the community exists. since i started smoking and finding seeds in my chop i've been lazily attempting to germinate the seeds, sometimes i'd put them in paper towel but most of the time i'd just shove them into the dampest bit of the garden bed and see what happens. until recently i've never had a result, i finally after all these years of lazy germination have a little seedling growing nicely in a jar on the window sill with the bottom of a plastic bottle with some holes in it. it happened so fast after the seed sprouted in the tissue paper i was very surprised even after reading up about it possibly taking 10 hours haha. I do not know if the seed is male or female... I am personally not extremely invested in this plant, so far i haven't spent any money or put myself out too much for it, i would love to get some buds out of it if it is female (but to be honest i won't be crushed if it turns out to be male). I love how technical growers can get with their setups, controlling the nutrients and light for their plants during different phases, i truly love it, however, I'm just unable to get in that deep. the only elements i can really play with i feel is the soil and using the sun as lighting. i have a bag of sugar cane mulch, dynamic lifter (chicken poo) and sheep manure left over from the gardening we've already been doing. i'm also growing my own mushrooms! i'm growing lions mane, pink oysters, tan oysters and johnny utah oysters. would these be good ingredients for a "super soil" i read a couple of recipes here and on other sites and i feel like mixing these together might make a sort of super soil that would work well (in the case of the mushrooms it would be the left over mycelium after fruiting. and from what i can tell, the soil we've got going on in our new garden bed is pretty decent. thoughts? in way of sun i have a south facing window on the garage i would not be opposed to sticking the plant in. also i would be okay i think to stick it in a part of the garden if it would be beneficial. watering is not an issue, i spray my mushrooms down pretty much every day and look after the garden already i'm excited!
  10. my dad used to smoke Dr Pats from the tin when i was young and we've kept them floating around, they're so handy keep my buds in there and ground up in the acrylic grinder/stash https://24.media.tumblr.com/59867376ecd6a7d7ad8721e4c24fb98b/tumblr_n3hqgtZJp71trfwmso1_500.jpg
