  1. Hi Helpful people:) I'm seeking recommendations of doctors in the Gold Coast region who could work with my Dad's oncologist and pain specialist to manage his pain. The doctors have been unable to make a dent in his pain since his most recent admission to hospital 4 days ago. They changed from targin and endone to lyrica and endone but nothing is helping. He's asked the oncologist about cannabis but got no encouragement or assistance.
  2. Thanks Itchy. Nope, not done autos before. A former member here opened my eyes to them and my situation lends itself to a quick and done grow. Also, I've been buying for the last couple of years so the sooner I can harvest some quality home grown the better Cheers for those peat links, will check them out. Shipping is definitely killer - cost me $120 in freight for 120L of dirt!!
  3. Hey Itchy, Yes, such a long time! Glad to see you're still around Going really well thanks and about to get a whole lot better with getting my grow back on. Hope all is well with you too. Thanks for your very helpful reply. Alas, my outdoor days are long gone... I'm doing an indoor (actually in-shed ), autoflower run with this soil so expect it should go the distance. I've already identified watering (or more specifically over-watering) as the major challenge for this run (apart from keeping secret from my nosy 10yo ) I'm planning a SIP type setup with some root pruning pots (12L), hoping the air pots will dry out fairly readily in the in the event of a waterlogging. I've had a bit of a look around for peat... those 220L bales for $45 - is that available online?
  4. Good question that I have also been researching for the last month or so. I am about to trial Dr Greenthumb's turbodirt water only mix. It's pretty pricey but I don't have the time to cook my own.
  5. Nice work GGG. Shame about the bud rot, I know how that hurts. I'll have to look into this DNG soil, looks to have produced some very nice results.
  6. Was enjoying your diary, would have been nice to see them at harvest... how'd they go?
  7. Great thread! Was there consensus on the quietest fan, money no object? I'm looking to vent my 1.4 m2 tent and carbon filter as stealthily as possible.
  8. And thanks pedro for running the heat comparison tests
  9. I have 3 x 315W CMH ballasts/kits. One sourced locally, Hi-Par from Hyalite for around $700. The other two are dimmable ballasts that I have sourced directly from China for $300AUD, including the ballast, 2 x double sleeve globes and 2 x PG18 to E27 adapters, delivered inside of a week via TNT. I've only used the Chinese for veg so far but can discern no difference to the Hi-Par unit. I will be using all for flowering this round, and will share results on this forum. Happy to provide specs and details to anyone interested - pm me. I am also interested to know where you're getting yours from please Carn
  10. Shit, 5 degrees! You're not giving me much incentive to return home to Vic from the Gold Coast tomorrow
  11. Physics was never my strong point Billy but I think the following makes sense... http://www.reptileuvinfo.com/html/watts-heat-lights-lamp-heat-output.html One of the basic laws of physics is the law of the Conservation of Energy. This simply states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transferred from one form to another. So when a 100watt lamp is switched on, 100 watts of electrical energy is converted to 100watts of light and heat; a 50watt lamp produces a total 50 watts of light and heat, and so on.* However, some lamps are more efficient at producing light than others; this determines how much of that 100 watts is transformed into light, and how much is "wasted" and comes out as heat (very useful, though, if what we want is a basking lamp).
  12. Pedro I'm genuinely interested in this as a controlled experiment. Can you test one today and one tomorrow, else the tent will already be warm for the second light and skew the results? And thank you for going to the effort of testing this out (not sure I could be arsed putting up a tent for such a quick experiment!)

Photosynthesis occurs in the leaves... 'leave' them intact!
  14. Not sure about your opinion re "cause" but I do agree that 5 x 315w cmh would support similar results to 3 x 600w and with less power draw.
