I have no idea how you managed to drink all that but well done, it would have been disgusting. Here's how to cook cactus down... 1. Cut up cactus 1 cm chunks and add to a large pot of boiling water, after about a half hour (Add water when needed as it boils off, ie keep the water level up) use a strainer to remove all the chunks and blend them to a soup and return to the pot. Dont blend it before cooking as it will turn into an unmanageable goop that is a pain in the ass to deal with. 2. Boil the cactus soup for three or four hours, adding water as needed DONT let it boil down and burn! 3. Turn off the heat and allow to cool and then strain the pulp through a pillowcase and throw the cactus solids away. 4. Return the liquid to the stove and now boil down to a manageable level of liquid, I can get four doses~eight foot of cactus down to about 200ml of liquid. Now you only have to drink around 50 ml of the most bitter disgusting juice ever, the best way I have found to do this is to buy a bag of starburst lollies, stick two or three of the strawberry ones in your mouth and half chew them up, now drink the cactus juice through the lollies and then chew like mad! This method makes the foul taste almost unnoticeable.

I never bother sterilizing my coco/perlite between uses, I just give it a very good flush with PH corrected water to flush out any buildup of salts. I've never had any kind of root problems/diseases, needless to say, if I did I'd get new media and throw the old stuff out. Hopefully that never happens and I'll just keep using the same stuff I've been using for the last three years and 12 grows.

Thanks Luke, I fully agree with you on the points you raised about chemicals, after all we are all composed of chemicals as is everything in the universe, nothing except some of the elements at the high end of the periodic table are unnatural. To put 20-40ppm into perspective, that's 20 to 40 grams per tonne, That's a mere spoonful of sand out of a six by four trailer load.

I've got the same stuff, I've been told that aswell as making plants more disease resistant it also helps them tolerate high summer temps (indoors) and helps develop nice thick stems. Thanks for the heads up, I'll stick to the recomendations and see how it goes.

I finally got some of this stuff after hearing nothing but good things. Two questions to those who use it: How often do you add it to your nutes and do you ever bother with foliar applications? Any help will be appreciated.

My prefered method is to chop and dice into 1cm cubes then freeze and thaw twice, this freezing causes the tough cell walls to rupture as the water inside expands when it turns to ice. This inturn frees up the alkaloids locked n the cells and better allows them to dissolve into the liquid you will consume. After freezing, bring a LARGE pot to the boil and add the cactus and some citric or tarteric acid (found in the cake section of safeway/woolies) this acid converts the alkaloids to their salt form which dissolve easier than freebase alkaloids. Boil the cactus for four or five hours stirring occasionally and adding water as needed, DO NOT ALLOW TO DRY OUT AND BURN!!!. After four or five hours you can strain off all the solids using an old T shirt or some other cloth, just squeeze out all the juice yu can. return the liquid to the boil and carefully allow most of the water to boil off untill the liquid starts to become slightly thick, Allow the liquid to cool and it's ready to consume. (you can use a double boiler one pot sitting in another pot of boiling water to reduce to a thick goo if desired. this thick goo can be watered down when needed or dried and swallowed as small pellets) Cactus juice is the most horrid tasting shit in the universe, it's worse than anything you can imagine! One method that we have found is too chew up a few red starburst lollies http://static.flickr.com/1/278006_4bc8fe9df9_t.jpg and drink the cactus juice thru a mouthful of half chewed lollies then chew the lollies like mad. If you use a double boiler to reduce the juice to a thick goo you can use plain flower to coat small pellets of the very sticky goo and mould it into "PILLS" the flour is essential to stop the goo sticking to everything like superglue. You can then allow the "pillls" to dry out for easy and tasteless consumption. I hope that helps.

Phalaris grasses usually contain levels of 5Meo DMT, Bufotenine and other alkaloids which make them a poor choice for extractions. If you want N,N DMT I suggest using acacia bark or Mimosa Hostalis root bark.

Can you see heroin addicts going without their fix for the day so they can get together with 2000 other junkies so they can pool a total of half a kilo of smack and export it to say america? If they're that organised and able to do all of this while suffering debilitating withdrawl symptoms then they should probably be running the country. What you fail to consider with this view point is cause and effect. Pure heroin in measured doses causes very little physiological damage to users. the Dutch and Swiss heroin programs have proved that a majority of heroin users do function as "contributing members of society" when they have access to cheap or free heroin, prescribed by doctors. Heroin becomes a problem for it's users only when prohibition dictates prices of up to $500 a gram. Only when heroin prohibition ends will the associated crime disappear. Cannabis laws do not hold a monopoly when it comes to stupidity.
