Yea 'intelligence' is a hard thing to measure objectively. The abuse of drugs when developing seems to be all round a not good idea, having a little now and again is no biggie me thinks. I came across and article the other day on Type 3 Diabetes and thought some may find it interesting talking in regard to energy drinks/sugar Type 3 seems to be restricted to effects on the brain, but is a combo of Type 1&2, poor diet/sugar http://www.ehow.com/about_5088955_type-diabetes.html. Reminds me of that supernatural episode where the corn syrup was turning people into vegetables pretty much. ( Disclaimer, i dont know much about it, there isnt much info available as it.(better to do ya own informing if ya wanna know more on this matter than rely on my few lines ) I looked at a some teaching when at uni and there are some theories that talk about different types of intelligence below i've lifted some from another site. "1. Naturalist Intelligence (“Nature Smart”) Designates the human ability to discriminate among living things (plants, animals) as well as sensitivity to other features of the natural world (clouds, rock configurations). This ability was clearly of value in our evolutionary past as hunters, gatherers, and farmers; it continues to be central in such roles as botanist or chef. It is also speculated that much of our consumer society exploits the naturalist intelligences, which can be mobilized in the discrimination among cars, sneakers, kinds of makeup, and the like. 2. Musical Intelligence (“Musical Smart”) Musical intelligence is the capacity to discern pitch, rhythm, timbre, and tone. This intelligence enables us to recognize, create, reproduce, and reflect on music, as demonstrated by composers, conductors, musicians, vocalist, and sensitive listeners. Interestingly, there is often an affective connection between music and the emotions; and mathematical and musical intelligences may share common thinking processes. Young adults with this kind of intelligence are usually singing or drumming to themselves. They are usually quite aware of sounds others may miss. 3. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence (Number/Reasoning Smart) Logical-mathematical intelligence is the ability to calculate, quantify, consider propositions and hypotheses, and carry out complete mathematical operations. It enables us to perceive relationships and connections and to use abstract, symbolic thought; sequential reasoning skills; and inductive and deductive thinking patterns. Logical intelligence is usually well developed in mathematicians, scientists, and detectives. Young adults with lots of logical intelligence are interested in patterns, categories, and relationships. They are drawn to arithmetic problems, strategy games and experiments. 4. Existential Intelligence Sensitivity and capacity to tackle deep questions about human existence, such as the meaning of life, why do we die, and how did we get here. 5. Interpersonal Intelligence (People Smart”) Interpersonal intelligence is the ability to understand and interact effectively with others. It involves effective verbal and nonverbal communication, the ability to note distinctions among others, sensitivity to the moods and temperaments of others, and the ability to entertain multiple perspectives. Teachers, social workers, actors, and politicians all exhibit interpersonal intelligence. Young adults with this kind of intelligence are leaders among their peers, are good at communicating, and seem to understand others’ feelings and motives. 6. Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence (“Body Smart”) Bodily kinesthetic intelligence is the capacity to manipulate objects and use a variety of physical skills. This intelligence also involves a sense of timing and the perfection of skills through mind–body union. Athletes, dancers, surgeons, and craftspeople exhibit well-developed bodily kinesthetic intelligence. 7. Linguistic Intelligence (Word Smart) Linguistic intelligence is the ability to think in words and to use language to express and appreciate complex meanings. Linguistic intelligence allows us to understand the order and meaning of words and to apply meta-linguistic skills to reflect on our use of language. Linguistic intelligence is the most widely shared human competence and is evident in poets, novelists, journalists, and effective public speakers. Young adults with this kind of intelligence enjoy writing, reading, telling stories or doing crossword puzzles. 8. Intra-personal Intelligence (Self Smart”) Intra-personal intelligence is the capacity to understand oneself and one’s thoughts and feelings, and to use such knowledge in planning and directioning one’s life. Intra-personal intelligence involves not only an appreciation of the self, but also of the human condition. It is evident in psychologist, spiritual leaders, and philosophers. These young adults may be shy. They are very aware of their own feelings and are self-motivated. 9. Spatial Intelligence (“Picture Smart”) Spatial intelligence is the ability to think in three dimensions. Core capacities include mental imagery, spatial reasoning, image manipulation, graphic and artistic skills, and an active imagination. Sailors, pilots, sculptors, painters, and architects all exhibit spatial intelligence. Young adults with this kind of intelligence may be fascinated with mazes or jigsaw puzzles, or spend free time drawing or daydreaming." Could legalising marijuana save the US economy?
alchamest replied to Freakbrother's topic in International Cannabis News
I know that at times it seems this wonderful plant could do so much to help the planet, but saving the american economy i think it could help it in that it could be a viable and profitable industry and last long beyond many others, but their economy is so big and so vast and so . . corrupt & so violent. that it is better that it never recovers. IMHO. I love the cyclic nature of the natural world, currently i see the system we live in as fruit that has fallen from the tree and is rotting ( current day ). It will get uglier and stinkier ( future ). But it will provide the nutrients for what will grow afterwards. If they stop their wars. . . if they pull their troops which are overseas home. This is the alarm bell, i was reading a book not sure which one but it said something to the effect of.. every empire that has collapsed, a common indicator of imminent collapse was that the soldiers who were fighting in distant lands were called home, within a couple of years of this event the empire was gone. I find that i get urges for it when i have a break from smoking, the cravings pass after about 5 mins sometimes as quick as 30 sec. If i have been smoking daily for a couple weeks then i can have a bit of trouble getting to sleep the first night or 2 or 3. Have not experienced any other effects when having a break. Im a light smoker maby have 1 or 2 at most 3 from afternoon to night. ( these are vaped and each is shared with the mrs ). Currently on a break, I smoke for recreation mostly. At times my use would also fall under medicinal, but it's mostly recreational. I dont find it causes a physical dependence in me, more my useage forms a habit & psychological thing. Tho i think everyone is physiologically slightly different, everyones useage is different so i don't think there is a Yes or No answer to this, Then again i dont think there is a yes/no answer to many things After all i use to think heroin was extremely addictive that after one use you could be addicted physically, then i have come to learn that many people use it and do not experience this dependence, they can hold jobs and you don't even know they use it they are not all 'junkies' only a small percentage end up affected in this way. All that i know about drugs has been influenced by war time propaganda, The "War on drugs".

Deciding on wether or not to grow. Hmmmmm
alchamest commented on Blunt_Man's glog entry in Blunt_Man's Blog
If you dont have any bag seed, i would recommend getting autoflowering type(s), i have only started to grow this year, and begain with Easy Ryder & Buddha White dwarf. They took about 2 months ( give or take ) from sowing to harvest, the plants dont grow very large. I found them to be a great way to start. Depending on how you plan to grow, you can just use decent soil + decent amount of cow poo and be done with it. no need to worry about nutes while you figure out many of the other variables. Just my 2 cents. seeds site i have had luck with herbies. 2 out of 2 orders arrived. -

How are the petition signatures going? I got a copy of the document, will sign and see if i can get some friends to sign up, how many signatures we got roughly? I dont see many people that are willing to do much on this issue they just are happy to use and not get caught, it is inspiring to see some folks wanting to cause change.

Hey all, love the thread, i hope we can get this sorted out ASAP, pointless laws that serve no purpose. this thread seems to have died down a bit are there anyplans in place or are we still getting signatures for the petition to the state?

Just chiiming in all, Hope this all gets sorted out in the next 5 yrs or sooner, there seems to be a lot of attention on it at the moment around the world. The biggest issue is pollies having sensational media outlets saying they love pot n stuff. Out of fear of loosing their suporters. and having egg on their face for beign wron wrong WRONG about it.

Good document !! i think that there is some good movement in this area, globally it is getting a lot of attention even iwth the UN setting up a comittee to review the whole war on drugs issue. The future does look good here, ithkn if there was more of a push on pollies from the public it could speed things along. however organising something like that does not seem to happen very easily.

Is the war on drugs going somewhere?
alchamest replied to STONEDAJ69's topic in Australian Cannabis Politics and Activism
mmm the war on drugs probably does get used as a cover story, I dont think it was there intention when it was set up but all those years ago, shit changes over time, things become more corrupt especially with a system that seems to be set up to breed it. I hope this brings about discussion to stop the war on drugs, there is a lot of chatter around on the net on it, i think it is spilling out of the computers as well. Thankfully the cost of this war as well as the global financial situation may bring its demise, even if in the background 'officials' are making coin, it cant be decalred so the war on drugs on paper can only show up as a cost. Its days are numbered! -
The Internet Filter of Mr Conroy
alchamest replied to vertexx's topic in Australian Cannabis Politics and Activism
This i s rubbish, no idea why Telsra or optus would do this, But it does only seem to be for "Child Abuse" and it is only those ISP, I hope this only works at a retail level for Telstra and not the Wholesale as most ISP end up on their infrastructure, Hope these two comapnies burn for voluntry censoring. No serious shit happens on the normal webs it is all in private networks or anon networks. Kudos to above post, if they have alist find the people who own the sites and bust em. Sounds too reasonable.
