  1. However, this policy of choosing to vote is susceptible to abuse, usually from the rich white people who are trying to prevent others, generally who are not wealthy, to have their say. Also, Bush stole the first election, then somehow won the 2nd election. US law prevents 3 terms.
  2. Its a shame that the young voters in California failed to turn out in numbers to actually vote. This is a very good example of why voting should be compulsory in every democracy, to get a true representation of what the constituency wants. Land of the free and home to the brave.......what a load of crap!
  3. Well, everything is quite well dried now, just waiting for friday, a I have my last exam for the year, then I will be be getting super stoned! Going to make some hash from the frosty trim and butter from the rest.
  4. Hey Wilderbud, have a look at Arduino and also Mbed micros. They are pretty cheap, there is HEAPS of open source software out there, which can be easily modified to suit different purposes. You get get different "shields" for arduino which are essentially plug in breakout boards to suit different purposes. Also for sensors, why not just hack an old pH meter, and a EC meter and make it them inputs....would be a shitload cheaper than industrial sensors, depends how big your growroom is tho. Also consider using a mux (multiplexer) to expand your number of inputs. I too have been considering this as a project, just gotta complete, my other micro projects first!
  5. The cheap lighting dimmers consist of a variable resistor inline with the device being dimmed. This dissipation of the extra power creates quite alot of heat, creating a fire hazard, also you dont save any power, as the extra power is being dissipated by the dimmer. The more expensive, better quality fan controls are a variable inductor, this uses the principle of electro-magnetism to limit the current in the circuit. They generate very little heat and save you power and therefore money. End of physics lesson!
  6. You could use a microcontroller and a few temp sensors. You would need to program the microcontroller to read the temp values and output a PWM with a duty cycle proportional to the temp read by the sensor to the fan. This way, the warmer it is, the faster the fan goes, as it cools down, the fan slows down. You could also connect a lcd display to show the temps read and the duty cycle being putputted to the fan. Have a look at the Arduino or the Embed. These are easy to use microcontrollers for the average joe. Doesnt take too much learning. The great thing, is once you can use one, you start to see the possibilities for it.
  7. Holy shit, my apartment REEKS! I try to air out the place when Im home, but the smell is seeping into the hallway, although it should be ok as most of my neighbors have the waft of weed coming from their apartments half the time
  8. Harvesting was done today, I figured I would save the trimming for when its dry, mainly cos Im lazy and it was a long day. Anyway, here is a pic of my "drying rack" with the harvest hanging.
  9. Thanks Grasshopper! Was really busy today, so didnt get to giving her the chop. So will be getting done tomorrow morning. Found what was a cupboard on kerbside pickup, the doors and back had been removed. But if I drill a few holes & run a bit of string thru the holes, Ill have a drying rack for tomorrows harvest. I will post a few pics tomorrow to show what Im babbling about! So if all goes well, Ill have some nicely dried and reasonably cured bud to smoke when my exams are over in 2 weeks! Hot diggity! :bongon:
  10. Interesting......I had thought most of the weed here in the US was grown here. A hell of a lot of it is coming from California
  11. Well, it was bagseed, so Im not really surprised. I think that and the nearby streetlights sealed her fate. Not to worry, plenty of smoko and Ill try my hand at hash making as well. Thinking of saving a coupla bob and trying the gumby method. Can anyone offer any advice regarding the gumby method?
  12. Just hope there arent too many seeds! I seem to recall reading somewhere that sees from hermies just make more hermies.....can anyone confirm this?
  13. Well, having her inside as afforded me a rare opportunity to have a very close look at her for a great deal of time. I have noticed she has hermied on me, my guess is most likely the street lights nearby have caused this. I had a good look at the trichromes, almost all are cloudy, just a couple were still clear. I prefer a cerebral high anyway. So I am going to start the flush tonight. To speed it up, Im thinking of removing most of the fan leaves. I figure Ill give it a week to use up the last of the nutrients, then harvest.
