  1. Some members of Minnesota's law enforcement community are lying in order to kill MPP’s medical marijuana bill in the state — in other words, in order to keep patients in pain. This small but vocal contingent is claiming that marijuana has no medical value, that “every prosecutor in every medical marijuana state” opposes its use, that you can “overdose” on marijuana, and more than a dozen other outrageous lies. We’re fighting back. Yesterday, MPP held a news conference at the Minnesota statehouse to refute the outright false testimony that law enforcement officials have been providing the legislature and the news media. And we distributed to reporters and legislators an 18-page booklet cataloguing the opposition’s litany of mistruths — along with facts and proof to the contrary — and we’re releasing to the public, legislators, and media one video clip each day showing law enforcement's lies about medical marijuana. But we're relying on the generosity of supporters to ensure we have the resources to combat our opposition. Would you please give whatever you can today so we can fight back? MPP's bill, which passed out of the Senate last year, is currently awaiting an historic vote on the House floor. The vote could happen any day now, so it is urgent that supporters like you donate what you can today. Our campaign has generated an enormous amount of media coverage in Minnesota, which you can read here. And the two largest papers in the state — the Minneapolis Star-Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press — have editorialized in favor of the bill, which also has the support of the Minnesota Nurses Association, the Minnesota Public Health Association, the Minnesota AIDS Project, the Minnesota Senior Federation, and 2-to-1 support among Minnesota voters. Also yesterday, MPP debuted the second in a series of hard-hitting TV ads featuring seriously ill Minnesotans who are pleading with Gov. Tim Pawlenty ® not to veto MPP’s medical marijuana bill. The new TV ad features Ely resident K.K. Forss, who suffers from excruciating, debilitating pain after a disc in his neck exploded, causing extensive nerve damage. "This doesn't have anything to do with culture wars," Forss says in the ad, noting that he is a registered Republican and a born-again Christian. "We have people suffering in horrible pain, and we talk politics — it doesn't have to be that way."
  2. "R.I. compassion center bill heading to the Senate floor — act now This has been an amazing week for the move to improve medical marijuana access in Rhode Island. On Wednesday, the Senate Health and Human Services Committee unanimously passed a compassion center bill (5-0, with three absent). That means the next Senate vote on S.B. 2693 will be the full floor! On Tuesday, the House Health, Education, and Welfare Committee heard compelling testimony on a twin House bill, H.B. 7888. If you haven't done so yet, please let your legislators know you support protecting patients and ask other Rhode Islanders to do the same. Constituent calls and e-mails were key to passing Rhode Island's medical marijuana law, and they are vital to the effort to make sure all of Rhode Island's patients have safe access to their medicine as well. If you are a patient, a medical professional, or caregiver who is willing to send a letter to the entire House committee, in addition to your own legislators, please e-mail Karen@mpp.org. The Rhode Island Patient Advocacy Coalition did a terrific job organizing testimony before both the House and Senate committees. On Tuesday, representatives from the nurses' and doctors' societies testified in support of the bill, as did several patients and doctors. One patient, George Desroches Jr., spoke of having a gun pointed at him seven times while buying his medicine. He's one of at least three patients who have been mugged buying the medicine they depend on off the criminal market. When you raise your voice to provide patients like George access to their medicine, you won't be alone. In the past month, the Rhode Island State Council of Churches; the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Rhode Island Chapter; and the Rhode Island Office of the Public Defender joined the many other supporters of allowing medical marijuana compassion centers. In 2006 and 2007, the state legislature recognized that patients should be able to use marijuana with their doctors' approval. They passed and made permanent the Edward O. Hawkins and Thomas C. Slater Medical Marijuana Act with more than 80% of the vote, over Gov. Don Carcieri's vetoes. As a result, over 350 seriously ill Rhode Islanders are registered to use medical marijuana. Those victories were made possible by hundreds of Rhode Islanders contacting their elected officials to let them know they care about this issue. To make sure they have a place to safely obtain their medicine, please don't forget to write your legislators. Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project, our allies, and Rhode Island's seriously ill patients. Please pass this e-mail alert on to friends, family, and listservs in Rhode Island so that we can create the momentum necessary to provide patients with a safe supply of their medicine." This seems like a great thing as long as it doesn't become some type of monopoly. I have been thinking about how I might want to open a compassion center, and don't know if I will be able to get the licence to do so, or how many they will allow ect... Clep
  3. Tastey tastey, congradulations!
  4. Ron Paul would get my vote if only he wasn't a Republican. I like that he's a staunch Constitutionalist. He's down with peoples rights to choose thier own path.
  5. I got 1984 for x-mas, been trying to get into it , but no time.
  6. Lumens are a mesurment of light for the human eye. The LED "grow lights" don't give off as much "lumenecent light" because plants don't need that type of light. New LEDs are being geared more towards the red/blue ends of the spectrum. Light that we mostly can't see, but that plants use... Just something I read someplace.
  7. Where did you get this set-up? I still have some time before I buy, and I'm still on the fence to tell the truth. I have seen a few differnt types on e-bay as well as the UFO system.
  8. AAARRRGGGGHHH! I saw that, but it was tooooooooo late. Eh better late then never I guess. , and yes I have been a self induced stuper too. One of my best friends recently harvested , and he had 4 diffent types....Sooo Cleptow is a happy camper. And a little dopy.
  9. Here is a semi technical page I found with some info on the benifits of marijuana on all types of arthritis. To bad it can help my spelling. http://www.medical-marijuana-testimonials....l-marijuana.htm
  10. WTG brother! Congrats enjoy your new toy!!
  11. I can have up to 2.5 ounces on my person. I can grow 12 plants, and I also have two "caretakers" who can also grow 12 plants each, and have 2.5 ounces on them, as well as paraphnila. To get it I just had to get the balls up to ask my doctor, have him fill out then paper work, fill my own out, come up with $75.00 or if you are on dissability $10.00. You cannot have any felony drug charges on your police record neither can your care takers. After sending in the paper work it's about three to four weeks. There are no legal places to buy anything so it's get yours seeds anyway you can and go from there, or buy on blackmarket. The laws are still a bit vauge in that area. I have to renew each year, my renewal date is 12/31 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I have my two caretakers already, and we have some clones ready to be picked up some Orange Kush, Arjens Haze, and some Purple Domina, and of course the White Heaven (when I get my prize pack ). Since the law was passed there has been alot of differnt types of grass going around. The guy we are getting our clones from has about 10 differnt strains going ATM. Hope this answers all your questions. I'll keep you all up to date on my grow as it progresses.
  12. I love glass as was said easy clean. I am an old joint smoker by nature but it got to expencive so I got me a nice sherlock. I like the artistic things that are done with glass too compaired to ceramics glass seems like it has a more nartural feel.
  13. Well I recieved my medi card today and one of my "caretakers" wants to go with the LEDs. Dam you HighTimes!! Anyway he is willing to put up the cash for them so we are going to try them out. We are going to use the UFOs as they seem to be the most advanced. (and they look cool too ) I plan on making a journal so we shall see.
  14. I recieved my medical marijuana card today for rheumatiod arthritis and cronic back pain. I am very happy to see people are finally seeing the the possitive effects this drug has on people in pain.
  15. I have seen some fairly cheap mixed RED/BlUE panels on ebay they are about a square foot in size going for as low as $50 US, and I have also seen some daisy chaning them together. I agree with Granny though they are getting better, but I'm not sure I wanna risk buying them just yet.
