GROWING IN SOIL UNDER LIGHTS.

Recommended Posts

hey

i want to grow with soil in my wardrobe (160H X 150L X 48D), under a 400w which i am purchasing within the next week.

i want to get around 24 oz.

DWC i was going to use, but i have to be stealth. the ir pumps and all that make too much noise. ;)

ill have 3 x 120mm fans for exhaust/intake.

how can i achieve this ? i will be properly fertilizing the plants, and growing them at this soil ratio

coco peat 75%

Medium size pearlite 15%

Vermiculite 10%

Wetting agent

dolomite lime (to make ph 5.5-5.7)

at what height should i flower the plants ? :P

off a 400w light, how much can i expect ? ;)

how many plants will i neeed ?

ta

Hiya just from my experience......

i have gotten 2-6 oz of dry bud per plant ( but had alot more leaf and trim during the grow) with my cupboard of 6ft high 3.5wide and 2.5 deep

but thats hydro DWC.I get 6 plants in my setup and thats pushing it i think.

My first grow the plants tryed to get 4ft+ and got toasted on my light my second got to about 2-2.5ft . It also depends on the strain but the smaller the plant when you go 12/12 the less the plant will grow before flowering, generally i think 6-12 inches but ive seen people flower at 4inches high this will affect yield!

I have 2 fans set up but 3 would be better, i would have 1 or 2 set up on alternating sides to the bottom blowing and 1 higher for exhaust(opposite to the blowing fan if you only use 1 blower)

As far as i can see if ya want 24oz ya really need a bigger space for more plants if ya talking 24oz of dry bud.Otherwise experiment and see what ya can fit in there ;)

Hope this helped

With soil, fungus gnats are usually a pain in the ass :\

I'm on my first grow and have had a crap time with trying to control these bastards of a thing. If you're going to go the soil route try to read up a little on:

sciarid fly / fungus gnat

They're an absolute pest ;)

i dont think there's any chance of pulling that much smoke in such a small space, maybe 12 oz if your a good grower using clones and get the right growth structure,

personally id skip the soil( risk of bugs and other organic probs + longer time to harvest) id go clay balls and simple recurculating system and just the veg and flor nutes, thats simple safe and basic to start

with 160 height its a bit short so you'll need low profile tubs and basket to hold the medium.my current baskets are only 35lx16hx20deep sitting on bricks in a plastice tub, fill with nutes to below the bricks works fine.

No way are you gonna get that much outta a 400 watter mate, not even with 10 plants. Light is the most important factor(and ventilation) so its back to the drawing board for ya...look about the site for more help.

ps: soil under lights is very, very slow...not worth spending all the money on leccie bills

have done it a while ago.. took ages.. these were like 3 plants under 400W sodium.. i had no idea but all i remember was it took over 3 months

No offence, but you hit the nail on the head with the "I had no idea" statement. If your grow took that long YOU were doing something wrong, nothing to do with the soil.

FAR FAR too many people on this site diss growing in plain old soil when it's one of the easiest, cheapest and most convenient growing methods under lights.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Soil under lights is fine, it's just like any other method - each has it's own set of individual pros and cons.

I could say something equally stupid like "DWC takes AGES to grow". But that would be stupid, because when I tried it - MY DWC setup was at fault, not the growing method.

Sorry to rant guys, but I've seen the "leave the soil outside" quote FAR too many times from people who should know better. The only "bad" soil grow I've seen is Pipeman's, and frankly pipes plunged in head-first without reasearching or buying any of the things he SHOULD have had when he started growing.

And anyway - AllHail is confusing "soilless" (i.e. CoCo) with Soil growing, so the point is moot - he's asking about CoCo.

Anyway, that was it, I feel better now :peace:

GFG - sorry I jumped down your throat like that, It wasn't anything personal, I was just getting frustrated about people "dissin'" soil-grows.

I mean no disrespect to your growin' ability mate, sorry if it came out like that.
