potting mix

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I've been looking all over Australia for a product called "promix bx" potting mix. They make it in canada but not hear in australia.

Anyway, decided to make my own this year for the up and coming outdoor season.

Ingredients

Canadian peat moss 75%

Medium size pearlite 15%

Vermiculite 10%

Wetting agent

dolomite lime (to make ph 5.5-5.7)

Nutrients will be the three part dry slow release ferts called Heavy Harvest by Advanced Nutrients.

The nutrients are called 1)Spring 2)Summer 3)Autunm

The "Spring" will be mixed in with the potting mix at a rate of 1/3 cup per 20 litre of potting mix.

The hole in the ground will be 280mm round and 350mm deep filled with the potting mix. (20litre)

Will plant around 15th september

Will fertilize again with "summer nutes", about 7th november

Will do final "fall" ferts on about 23rd December.

thats the plan anyways...

Yeah I gave up looking for that a while ago too

And a good one ... I may do a parallel grow this summer using the same mix although it would be in large tubs rather than the ground

EDIT: What strain are you planning on using (for comparative purposes)

Ive been a indoor man 4 most of my life. Carnt wait for this years outdoor season.

But whats the difference really? between coco peat and Sphagnum

Peat Moss as far as growing outdoors?

My main source of information 4 growing outdoors is the Canadian web site "Advanced Nutrients" as they grow heaps of outdoor over there.
