Sydney police conducting random breath testing say they have sniffed out a hydroponic cannabis set-up in a nearby house.

Campsie and Ashfield police were carrying out random breath tests along Canterbury Road, Punchbowl, about 11pm (AEST) yesterday, when they noticed a strong smell coming from the property.

Police allege about 300 cannabis plants - potentially worth $600,000 - and a hydroponic set-up were found inside.

A 44-year-old Punchbowl man has been charged with cultivating a prohibited plant and cultivating an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug.

He will appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.

That may all be changing soon with the introduction of saliva tests. Bastards.

There's no justification for using such an inaccurate method of testing as it cannot define intoxication, only previous use.

Yeah, that grow is obviously one which had people who don't know what they're doing with smell control, or were stingy when it came to changing their carbon filters.

A great example of why we should be damn careful when it comes to growing buds without good smell control.

Gotta feel sorry for the buggers though.
