Two charged over 100kg cannabis find

Two people have been charged after detectives seized more than 100 kilograms of cannabis in Canberra last night.

 

Police found the hydroponically-grown drugs in an Isabella Plains house.

 

Australian Federal Police (AFP) spokesman Sandy Logan says $22,500, suspected of being proceeds of crime, was also recovered.

 

"A 50-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man have remained in custody overnight," he said.

 

"They'll face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning on a cultivating a trafficable quantity of cannabis for sale charge, as well as trafficking in a trafficable quantity and unlawful possession of stolen property."

A man has appeared in court charged over a major drugs haul in Canberra last night.

 

Miodrag Uglesic of Isabella Plains faced a series of charges relating to cannabis found at a residence by drug intelligence officers.

 

The charges include possessing a trafficable quantity of cannabis and cultivating the plant with intention of selling.

 

Police say they found a number of mature plants and 16 plastic bags filled with the drug.

 

Uglesic was granted bail on condition he surrender his passport and not approach Canberra Airport.
