Police raids net $350,000 drug haul

Five men were arrested and drugs with a street value of $350,000 seized in a series of police raids overnight in Sydney's west.

The arrests were part of the ongoing NSW Police drug operation Task Force Gain.

 

NSW Police said a 21-year-old Fairfield man was arrested during a covert drug operation at Prairiewood just before 6pm (AEST).

 

He will appear at Fairfield Local Court today charged with possession and ongoing supply offences.

 

Following his arrest, police raided nine homes in Fairfield, Fairfield West, Cecil Hills, Hinchinbrook, Prairiewood, Wetherill Park and St Johns Park.

 

Police said 20 cannabis plants and about three kg of dry leaf were found in a house at Yeronga Close, St Johns Park.

 

A further 70 cannabis plants were found in Wetherill Park while ecstasy pills and money were taken from a Fairfield home.

 

The cannabis had an estimated street value of $350,000.

 

An 18-year-old Smithfield man and a 23-year-old Ceil Hills man were arrested at their homes while two 21-year-old men were arrested at houses in Smithfield and Hinchinbrook.

 

All are expected to face court today charged with drug offences.

 

Police from State Crime Command, Fairfield, the Dog Squad and Polair were involved in the operation.
