Green Rockwool Cubes

does anyone know why rockwool cubes turn green when they are wet and have been placed in light? my bet would be an algea or fungal growth but none the less, it looks bad and cannot be really that great for plants :thumbdown

 

also, once its set in, is there any way to stop it growing or even better, kill it off? and if u keep the cubes out of light, will the green shit still appear ???

 

i have seen many clones with that kind of shitty looking cubes and dont want to take my cuttings and have that happen to them is all...

i get the green color on my rockwool cubes all the time, even from clone or seed stage, havent had any problem with it,

The green is algae and is not going to harm the clones but if it really annoys you the just change the setting on your spray bottle to squirt and clean it off with that, this works best with the bottles you can pressurise.

Give the rockwool a light spray of "microbial" stops algea/fungus.

well as long as the green shit doesnt harm the plants in any way, i can always ignore it

I find that H202 works well ( diluted, of course ), or just let the cubes dry out a bit & the algae usually dies.

ive started putting a tiny bit of h202 in also and it seems to help
