Headspace Australian Cannabis Culture - NEW MAG!

Recommended Posts

"Welcome to our Headspace," says Editor Wayne Collins as he exhales a plume of smoke thick enough to be from a bush fire.

"We are going to combine the three separate arguments for law reform into one magazine, the great Industrial hemp hope, Medicinal marijuana magic and recreational lubricity matched by nothing else," he said.

"For too long in this country, and indeed around the world, recreational cannabis users have been blamed for not allowing the sick to access the best available medicine, and for denying industry a greener and better crop than anything currently being grown en-masse.

Due for release at Mardi Grass 2005, Headspace is available for $4.95 + p&p. (PM for details)

The views expressed in Headspace are that we cannabis users are seen because of the law, after almost a hundred years of persecution in this country, we are seen as less than non-cannabis using citizens in the eyes of the law.

We reject this systematic apartheid. We reject judgements of us as criminal because of our educated decision to embrace the cannabis plant to what ever extent we do.

It is our further belief that users of cannabis are a part of a legitimate culture, the cannabis culture, and that continued attempts to eradicate us and our choice of social lubricant to the detriment of farmers and the seriously ill equates to cultural genocide in this country. This multi-cultural country with a monopolistic attitude toward the alcohol industry and social drugs.

Ultimately our aim is to expose famous Australian stoners as users, (in much the same way gays used to be outed until it was no longer a big deal).

We intend to normalise cannabis.

We will be seen as radical by some, fuckwits by others, and saviours of the smoke by millions worldwide when we succeed. It doesn't matter. We will not stop until there is change of some sort.

There's a storm a-brewing.

(P.S.) I posted this in response to a request for more information on our magazine, I'm no spammer.

Sorry mate, the cover of your mag makes it spam as it has a reference to another site, can it be altered to allow it to be left on the forums, otherwise I will have to remove the post/topic from public view as it contravenes the OS guidelines. lol

Tom,

If that is your choice then so be it. I posted the cover because thats what we want people to instantly recognise, there was no other motivation behind it.

Uniting Australia's cannabis culture to me means accepting even the people that smoke weed I don't like.

Personally I'd like to see stoners not be forced into picking a side in the personality wars, and be able to unite regardl;ess of their differences.

Be aware though that I am not a fan of censorship and have saved this thread for a possible future story.

Not looking to make enemies, just don't want to have to choose a side.

There is no actual link, it's just a picture, and on my re-reading of the community guidelines the banning concerns posting of links. Cant click on it to make it work, it isn't a link, it doesn't contravene the guidelines.

All I asked is that you stay within the guidelines, there is no need for blackmail, if I didn't want your post there I would have removed it instead of giving you a chance to edit it first.

It isn;t a case a of censorship , our rules are our rules and you all agreed to them when you signed up we are absoilutly happy for you to advertise and sell your stuff here but please black out that sponsours name , I don't think it is a very unreasobale request with the leincy you already get while advertising , Does high times allow icmag.com to advertise ? .. no

before you badmouth us in an article you shoudl mabey consider the fact that although osztoners doens''t allow advertising of any sorts we are allowign you to sell your mag for zero cost to you this has been our choice to help you take off as we know you will get great sales and exposure here, so please don't make us look liek mean peopel when we are not

Like wise GH,

I love the idea of the mag, I have no issue with you at all.

Im just very cautious about books and thing.

Here in Qld its a real kick in the ass to be busted for a book, But I would buy yours if I saw it.

What I dont like is other web sites being advertised on the boards, and half of your front page is advertising another website. Like Tom and Pure said, we just flatout dont allow advertising unless its from one of OSA sponsors.

And shit, this isnt about sides and shit mate. its just a respect thing for the guys that are our sponsors.

Like I said up top mate, I hope that mag does sell well. It looks good.

:thumbsup

I am curious as to why this magazine would not last long or would be shut down ?

Granted, I just moved here from Canada, where pot is still illegal, but there is freedom of speech, so talking about pot, is not illegal, is it not the same way here ?

I really would like to purchase a subscription to a local cannabis magazine.

Oh yeah and speaking of subscription, generic_hippy, i thought that it might be an idea to also release the magazine through the internet, where we can have it delivered (as a .pdf document or something) to our e-mail and subscribe for a bit cheaper than normal.

As that should cut out the cost of printing, etc.

Well lemme know what you think?!
