Teacher sorry over cannabis

Recommended Posts

A teacher who was found with 29 kilograms of cannabis in her home has faced a disciplinary hearing to consider whether she is fit to teach.

Jennifer Scott, of Sherbrooke, pleaded guilty in 2003 to cultivating, possessing and using cannabis after police found 76 plants in her house. Shewas given a 12-month community-based order without conviction.

Ms Scott, 45, yesterday told a Victorian Institute of Teaching disciplinary panel that she used cannabis before her arrest when she was stressed. She also made marijuana cookies to help her father, who was in chronic pain after a stroke. The panel heard there was no evidence, besides the commercial quantity, to suggest she had trafficked the drug.

Ms Scott, who has taught English and drama since she was 21 and worked at schools in Knox, Boronia and Narre Warren, was dismissed from teaching in 2003 but later taught the Victorian certificate of applied learning at a community centre.

She said she considered her morals "impeccable", but agreed she acted illegally and could have brought teaching into disrepute.

The panel will rule within 28 days whether Ms Scott is allowed to teach.

Teaching into disrepute? Would have loved having teachers like that!

She should have taught gardening. :D
wow , 29 kg , 76 plants and she didnt even get a criminal conviction!
Definitely addicted to growing and with that much mj on hand, probably in containers rather than weighed bags the court would have believed her story as it seems the cops did. Maybe the plants were in a sog system too, that would account for the high number of plants, I would love to have a 29kg stash too. :D
